Excellent views

I had a great time playing at the course. Beautiful views coupled with challenging holes make for a great time for any golfer. Do not recommend it for novice golfers however I would not discourage them from going.

Really nice course with great views

This is a really nice course with great views from many holes and lots of elevated tees. Found the course challenging with fairly tight fairways and small greens A little peculiar that there is no sand traps and water on only the 18th. Overall, good condition and well worth the play

Always a challenge!

Hockley has greatly improved over the years, cutting back a lot of the rough, but still leaving enough that anyone wandering off the fairway can still lose a lot of balls. The worst hole on the course for women is the 18th, because the tees are not far enough back for two regular shots to the water, or far enough forward to get near it for a second shot over it. All in all, we love this course. The scenery is beautiful, even riding a cart you get lots of exercise, and there is always room to improve your game the next time!

A bit of a drive but worth it for the value

Played here back in May and found the course in good shape. I was a bit disoriented upon arrival as there was no staff to greet and the proshop was hidden away around the other side of the building.

Okay here is the good:

Greens, fairways and rough were all in good shape. Some of the views of the valley were excellent and really added to the overall experience. Fairways were generally wide enough to accommodate some variance off the tee and greens not too hard or sloping.

The not so good:

Some of the low laying areas were still soaked from the rain two days earlier and it appears that the drainage was poor on some holes (rough blended into a swap on one hole...) The bunkers were in need of more sand and some had a muddy consistency. Also the pace of play tends to back up on the back half of the course (happened both times I have played here) and wait times were sometimes up to five minutes between shots, and alas, no marshal around to assist.

If you are considering heading up to play and driving from Toronto I would say it's worth the extra bit of travel time...if you can get a good deal on Golfnow. I think I got the round in for $22 including cart!

I plan on playing this course a couple of times this fall as the colours will be awesome.

Give it a try!

underrated gem just north of GTA

ups and downs galore. many 100ft+ drops. a view from almost anywhere on the course. very much target golf with fescue and forest on either side of every hole that will eat you up. How bad is it? They sell balls on the bev cart in case youre not prepared! Greens that roll true and consistent. Nicely maintained fairways and first cut. Come for a challenge, stay for the views and great greens.

Mr K

Very hilly. I suggest that it's not for beginners or anyone with a handicap of 40 or more. Can be slow play at times. Elevated tee boxes. Terrific scenery and views. Challenging. Lots of fun and very interesting overall. Especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are turning colour.

This is a beautiful course.

This is an excellent golf course. Very challenging. It is also a beautiful golf course. The views and tee elevations over many of the holes were unbelievable. I found myself enjoying the views as much as playing the game.
I would highly recommend this course to others. I will be back as soon as I can. This has become one of my favourite courses now.

Nice course with great views

The course is a very interesting layout with great views. The course was in good shape but the greens were a little slow, however they rolled true. Picking your clubs was tough due to the elevation changes a but this just added to the challenge. Pro shop staff were great. Not much for a driving range just some mats hitting up a ski hill! Great value on Golf Now but not worth full price for the drive.

Beautiful course

One of the nicest courses I played at. A regular price tag is a bit high, but with the Golf Now discount, well worth the money. The greens are very challenging and every hole has a very beautiful and unique layout. Overall a lot of hills and a great spacious layout. No bunkers.

Layout is very good, greens are good, fairways need some care

Interesting layout. Lots of trees, no bunkers, very little water, small and challenging greens. Marshall, cart girl, halfway house server were all super friendly.

Course offers many great challenges with elevation changes.

This is very well laid out in thru the hills & valleys of Hockley.
Many blind shots if you are playing for the first time.
Elevation changes add to the challenge.
Guide booklet that they hand out is very helpful.
I would love to go back.

Worth the drive from Toronto

We were presently surprised with the course.

The challenging yet not to difficult course is built into the side / bottom of a ski hill. During our round we saw foxes, turtles and deer.

We have told all of our golfing friends about this hidden gem

Can't wait t return

Play a morning round and enjoy the great view of the niagara escarpment

Do not plan to walk this course. A cart is a must. There are no flat surfaces on this course. Beautiful back drop of the Niagara escarpment.

Don't let the fact that there is no sand and little water fool you.

This is a tough course for a resort course - quite tight in most places. You surely could not walk it - you would need to be a billy goat. But it is a nice layout in the valley, with many great views. The greens were very slow, but in good shape, and true. Was surprised (and a little disappointed) that this course is not part of the OGA, and therefore is not rated.

This course challenges the player to manage his/her game well

This time greens were excellent and very challenging. No surprise aeration. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Stay away from refreshment cart....prices over the top! Will go back again and again as the course has drawn me into the fight with it. It can make you feel real good, then eat you up and spit you out. Loved the experience
