Not bad, poor customer service
They offered nothing for a hole in one!! Seems cheap and lame…
Good deal for $100
Definitely a good deal for $100. Got my first hole in 1!! But sadly the club doesn’t offer anything for it.
Very disappointed
The course itself is nice, decent conditions. The pace though is the worst I ever come across. T time at 2:10, blowed the horn around 7:25 and we couldn’t finish. Had four groups on one hole at some point. And staff can’t do anything about it because they put too many people in and the slot is just too tight. We paid 113 for the round, very disappointed. Talked to the staff and apparently it’s happening almost everyday. Called the next day to complain and they are not willing to do anything because 113 is the discounted rate. What a waste of a beautiful course with these type of management!
Do not play on a weekend
Unless you like waiting 30 minutes before every shot
Great Course
I played Cherry Downs for the 1st time this past weekend. Firstly, all of the staff I encountered were very friendly and polite. The course itself was in great condition, but there were a lot of tee boxes that need an overhaul. The course layout makes the course challenging but not to the point of being frustrating/unplayable. I found it to be a very technical course, you need to hit fairways and on the correct side if you wanted good looks at the green. Greens were firm, yet receptive and rolled perfectly which made reading lines significantly easier. The course is walkable, but I would recommend taking a cart as it is quite hilly, with some decent hikes between some of the holes. Overall I really enjoyed my round there. For a first time player there, I wish I had more insight before about where to hit shots and what to avoid....but it wasn't the end of the word. Would definitely play there again.
Beautiful course
The course is beautiful and we'll maintained.
Paces of play is reasonable.
Finished the round in 4.5 hours.
Will return.
Great course but Tournament ahead of us
Unfortunately, we booked a round at 3pm but there was a tournament that went off at 2pm. I think when you book, you should be warned that the round will be very SLOW if a tournament is going an hour ahead of you on a 18hole course.
Normally good, but this was a frustrating experience
We like this course, and have golfed it many times in the past and enjoyed it. On this day, we had an early time, booked as a hot deal on Golfnow - and we were basically waiting to hit most of our shots into greens due to grounds crew. Then had to put on greens with way to much water on them to make it a good experience. Putting was useless.
We golf a lot and understand that sometimes with early times, this can happen, but in this case - they were with us for the entire round and cleaning the greens of water right after we left - almost every hole.
Then when we got back, we mentioned it - and were told that because it was a golfnow booking and specifically a hotdeal - that nothing would be done, as we already had a discounted rate.
We paid over $60 for a cart - so whatever discount we had - went away from that. The round of waiting around for most shots and having no chance to truly put a course known for its greens was frustrating regardless of what or how we paid and the response was insulting .
BUYER BEWARE - Great Value, Great Course, Horrible Pace of Play
Great course conditions, layout, and challenging greens - this would've been a perfect course. HOWEVER, the pace of play here is borderline ludicrous. With a 3:40pm tee time, I was unable to finish the round due to the extremely slow pace of play on the course. By time the final closing horn blew at approximately 8:15PM, my watch indicates that the round had taken almost 4 hours and 35 minutes and we hadn't even made it to the 18th hole. I saw a Marshall once on the front 9, and never saw them again - the staff clearly did not care that golfers were going to lose out on playing all 18 even with reasonably early tee times. This was emphasized by the staff's lack of accountability when asked after the round why there was no one enforcing a reasonable pace of play.
I get it - I'm not an outstanding golfer and enjoy taking my time. But when I book a 3:40 tee time with a 7:50pm sunset, I'm expecting that I'll get to complete all 18 holes.
Buyer beware - check sunset times and expect a round to take upwards of 5 hours and no enforced reasonable pace of play.
Not worth the money
$149.16 tax in for a round with cart I would expect a lot better. No marshals to be found (I was told they don't start until 10am. We teed off at 7:50am. pace of play was nearly 5 hours, waiting at each hole for the groups ahead, with a grumpy group behind us as well. Bare patches of rough here and there, no club house. Sandwiches sold out at halfway house.
