10th Hole Photo submitted by jgolfd on 08/10/2016
Great day
Started a half hour late but this was not the courses fault. Friendly staff in proshop and 1st tee (starter)
The course was fun to play and somewhat challenging.
Lots of scenic holes and good views .
Don't go there
Horrible coarse.
They force you to ride with someone who is paired with you.
The coarse is poorly maintained with very slow play.
Marshall will not do anything about horrible foursome in front of us who took 5 hours to finish a round, and were clearly drunk
Unfriendly staff!
You would not feel welcome when you play at Maples of Ballantrae.
Starter and marshall are very rude and impolite!
The worst unfriendly starter
The most impolite and unfriendly starter I ever met.
Maple Syrup
Got Hot Deal on GolfNow.com and rode for $35 and change. Like this course but think it's too pricey, Extremely long round as foursome ahead of us pretty deliberate; marshall should do more to keep play moving. We prefer to play courses to the east (Lindsay, etc.) that are less congested and better value for money
Pleasant round
It was an overall pleasant round. Could have been faster but that talks to the quality of players. The price @$59 is where it should be, so good value but not worth the posted rates.
Good but Marshal was clueless
I ask the marshal how long a par 3 plays - 150 yrds. Didn't more like 120. Ask him - is the green up on that hill (It was really foggy - couldn't see anything), answers Yes - correct answer - No.
Other than that overall great course for the money and easy to get to, but really badly marked. The club house is very dated and the course is not visible from the street so it's extremely easy to miss.
The course itself was mainly straight holes, few challenges, but narrow so need to keep it straight. The rough was fairly long.
Fun course to play
Overall the course is in good shape, power cart I rode had some issues but everything else was great!
terrible
Every whole and shot we should wait, Too much slow
phase and too much mosqitoes. I will never go again
Needs Marshalling
Our round was slowed down tremendously due to one set of folks playing as a group of 6 and another 2some playing 2 balls each.
This course could have been played in 4.5 hours instead of a little over 5 hours.
The standard green fees are VERY overpriced for what you get, however with the golfnow discount rate its quite reasonable.
Decent Value
Staff were great but biggest complaint was pace of play and no course marshalls actively dealing with all the Tiger Woods playing who took forever before each shot and who would then shank their next shot 40 yards...not the course's fault but a lot of golfers who don't understand golf etiquette, like shanking shots into other fairways or tee boxes and not yelling fore!
The Variety of Challenges on this course make it one of my favorites
You'll want to stick to the fairways as much as possible. Trying to take "shortcuts" on the doglegs will get you into trouble quickly.
weekend buffer
course and weather were in great conditions
golfers need some help :)
Course ggod-clubhouse not so good
This is a very good course of moderate length and difficulty, but the cubhouse is very shabby, needing extensive upgrading and in a very rundown condition with dingy washrooms. There was no paper towels in the washroom at the end of the round and it had obviously not been attended to or cleaned for hours
pace was terrible
it's an overrated course. pace was absolutely terrible. Lots of average or below average golfers play there, causing very slow space and poor maintenance of the course. I believe it's just poor management of having too many players on the course instead of the marshalls there being useless. will never go back.
Great course
Great greens to play. Was a good buy on golfnow. Will def return
Slow
My twosome was paired up with another twosome. The four of us were average golfers that would probably finish a round in about 4 hours and 15 minutes. We tee'd off at 1pm on a Friday afternoon and by 5pm we had only completed 13 holes. We had to wait at each tee block for 5-10 minutes before we hit. There was a marshall on the course trying his best to keep groups moving, but the pace of play was very slow. I think the course would be better served to stagger out tee times a bit better. The conditions of the course were decent and it's a nice challenge from the blues. I would find this course to be a good value at $55 including tax and cart.
Good value if you get Golf Now discount
For $61 pretty good value. Tough starting six holes then becomes much more playable. Tight fairways and surprising good greens. Subtle breaks and reasonably fast. Standard rate of $85 with cart on a weekend I would not recommend. Not worth it facilities seemed quite dated. Patio was under construction (it's July!) and inside was quite dark and musty. Some tee boxes were a little rough but fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Bottom line, if you can get a discount I would play it.
Fun course
From the back tee can be tough! You need to drive it well to score. Overall it's a good course to play. Excellent value!
