10th Hole Photo submitted by jgolfd on 08/10/2016
Dissapointed
Tee'd off at 5:30. Pro shop attendant said we would have to be off the course at 9. Finished 9 holes before 7. More than enough time to finish 18. Ran Into groups playing 20+min a hole. Marshall was out and did absolutely nothing, saw him 3 times and he didn't say a word to us.
We could of finished 18 if pace of play was controlled.
Only got 14 in.
Good Shape
We enjoyed our golf game very much. We were teamed up with another twosome who were very pleasant. Staff was very helpful.
Overall OK.
Overall OK. Challenging holes. Very nice areas once you leave the noise of HWY 48.
Carts and cart paths were atrocious. Clubhouse OK. The course marshall had no effect on speeding up a very slow group a hole in front of us. I mistakenly thought it was part of Ballantrae Golf Club so I was disappointed when we arrived. Turned out to be an OK day.
Good deal for Maples on Golf Now
Good deal for Maples on Golf Now. Played at 2:56 for 50 bucks w cart.
nice mature course
picked a day that had a low turn out ,made for a fast round, greens bushy but in good shape
Interesting layout...wouldn't take much to make it better
Used to play here somewhat 15-20 years ago. Interesting layout. Greens and fairways in good shape. Sand traps need some work. Numerous tee boxes slanted...hard to find flat surface. Beverage cart came around 4 times during round. Staff were all friendly. We didn't have to wait to tee off on any hole except for perhaps 1 or 2...pace of play was good. Course could step up a notch if attended to a few matters: pave the cart paths (currently gravel/dirt), maintain the sand traps, trim the grass around the edges of the traps and add windshields to the carts. Overall though, for $60 plus tax it was a good experience and I would return.
OK course
It was one of those perfect days for golf, but the course was not in perfect conditions, probably because of drought and insufficient management. Overall, fairways were as hard as rock, cart path was obviously neglected, and the greens were just fair. I believe they've raised the green fee, but I don't think it's agreeable.
Great course
Very fun course and layout. ...grounds are kept immaculate
Nice greens
Find this course a challenging one to play. Greens are in great condition! Especially on hole #10, a par 3 where my buddy got his first hole in one! Awesome.
i would play again
wonderful course, some holes give a nice little challenge, well kept and maintained and the staff is friendly. the course is a bit overpriced but fair the drinks are a bit high however, $8.50 for a cooler cost me $50 (plus $8 tip) for 6 coolers (2 rounds for the group).
maples
was very windy and followed a very slow section but course was great had a good time
Course Marshall's are awful
Not only were we pushed the entire time, the Marshall's followed us and told us to hurry up for three consecutive holes, twice. Two different Marshall's Told us we would take 6 hours, finished in 4. And the starter was angry because we were 2 minutes late...
maples of ballantrae
love this course...lots of water...wide fairways and controlled rough...greens in great shape given the brutal winter we had...will play here a lot this summer I hope
good golf course
We had a special round in snow storm weather !
It is so cold but we have fun!
A good round the week before, ridiculously bad this time.
My friend and I played here for the first time last week and enjoyed ourselves enough to come back again this week. The prior week we saw both the cart girl and the marshall at least four times during our round. Was much busier last week but the pace was great. This week was horrible. On the fourth hole some idiot sailed the ball over our heads as we were standing right in the middle of the fairway. He was playing by himself and decided he would play through us while we were in the middle of the hole. We had a twosome in front of us. They looked like they knew what they were doing but were the most brutal golfers I have ever golfed behind. They played four balls off of most tees and made sure to play each one even though they were scattering them everywhere. They would stand in the middle of the fairways for no apparent reason other then they didn't want to put their smoke down. By about the 12th hole we had had enough and called the clubhouse to see if they could send a marshal out. The clubhouse attendant gave us the "well we're kind of busy but I'll see if I can track him down." Not surprisingly, no one ever (marshall or cart girl) showed up. A group of four men a couple of groups behind us had obviously had enough and skipped to the hole ahead of the brutal twosome. The foursome must have then decided that they were playing Augusta and took an inordinate amount of time to play each hole from that point forward. When we finally finished the round, we asked the attendant if the bar was still open but it had closed a while before. Never had I had a more frustrating round of golf in my life. A word of advice to management, if you are only going to offer 10% of the services, perhaps your prices should be adjusted accordingly.
Maples of Ballantrae
The course was in very good condition for this time of year. The greens were very good. There were no fallen leaves on the fairways or greens.
The course would be better if the tee boxes were more even. On too many your feet are either above or below the ball on the tee shot.
Poor to fair.
I was a single player, so I was teamed up with 3 others, all seasoned players from another location of town.
We all had similar views on the course, which was poor.
The last time they had played this course was several years ago, and they concluded that no improvements had been done since then, as a matter of fact, there was an area that was very wet, note: We have not had rain in 3 days, and one of the vets said that, that was a problem the last time he played there.
Also there is a wooden bridge over water, that is leaning, precariously to one side.
The pathways are in bad shape, with T boxes that make one feel disorientated, very slanted, or crooked. As for the greens! they are very bad, almost like they have not been rolled in weeks.
To conclude, we did not think playing that course was worth the price charged.
This course is average.
The first two holes are challenging; the rest are average. The greens have long grass. The carts have no screens, which is a negative. We played with a discount;otherwise, the course is too expensive for the quality of it. Usually, the pace of play is slow, although yesterday it was not bad.
O.K course, but pace crawled
Granted it was a mid-morning start, but the pace of play was the biggest thing. They were worried about my 9-year old son (who shot 126 by the way), but with my 77, we were able to keep up just fine (with an average-paced couple as our partners). Marshals seemed to be out and helped on a couple of holes since I was unfamiliar with the course.
Greens were banged up, so putts were a bit of an adventure.
There are some blind shots, so we got hit into a few times - no one's fault really, but just beware.
Cordial staff. Nice beer options at the 19th hole.
Not sure if I will head back anytime soon. I think there is better value out there...
Great value, nice track
Clubhouse, starter and cart girl were great. Nice course. Good value.
One blemish was restaurant. We were only table and two waitress's totally ignored us and chatted away behind the bar. We asked if they were closed but it was mid afternoon. One even left the building for 15 minutes. Food was really lame as well.
Go to course but grab your beer and wings in town.
