Good Course
Good course. Play can be a little slow at times. A couple of difficult holes. Expensive on the weekends.
ALWAYS ENJOY PLAYING MARLWOOD
My friend and I always like Marlwood as it is not difficult or very long . An easy pace during the week!
This course was mosquito ridden
Our tee off time was 7:40am mind you, however the mosquito were insane. Anytime you were not me bing in the cart you would get swarmed by them. I know keep repellent in my bag so I won't have to experience this again anywhere.
The women working in the club house was not very friendly at all.
Front nine must have been new to the. Purse because the back nine seemed older and not as well manicured. The back nine greens are hard and small. Short yardage also.
Would not go again but was good to try a different course
We got eaten alive by the mosquito so if you decide to play make sure you bring spray. started early hoping we could finish early but pro shop forgot to mention that they have ladies league play starting at The back 9 so by the we got to the 11 hole we caught up with the group and became setting ducks for the mosquito's. We played the 12th hole and went home.
Marlwood in great shape
Really enjoyed playing Marlwood. Not a long course, but still presents a number of interesting challenges. Compliments to the grounds crew for the condition of the course. Very friendly staff. Looking forward to going back.
the course is in great shape
There is nothing bad that I can say about it. Totally enjoyed the course.
Worth a visit at less than C$35 including cart.
Read other negative reviews but was pleasantly surprised that this course has good greens and decent fairways for a 3hr 30 min round. Bunkers are bad. Better signage & pictures of the hole will help the newcomer. Holes 17 & 18 are "interesting" and really not that bad as previous review stated.
Can do 18 holes in 3 hours
Only downfall is there is no map pictures on tee offs or any book to show how holes are laid out. So when playing for the first time it's a guess where the green is on some holes. But had a great time anyhow.
average course
Average golf course for the first 16 holes . The last two holes do not belong on an 18 hole golf course . They are the worst designed two golf holes I have ever played in my life . ruined the entire day , they are that bad . We finished the course in well under 4 hrs. A nice 16 hole golf course . We would not go back based on the last two holes .
A nice challenge
The course sets up for a nice challenge, not overly long but many risk reward holes. They had issues with there water pump plus the lack of rain so course was dry but mid round they did get their pumps working so it will improve. I will return.
New ownership is terrible!
After booking a tee time for my 8th time playing at Marlwood, I found out it was new owners since the last time I played, since the new ownership has taken place the course has lost its pristine look, it now looks like no one has attempted at watering the grass or caring about the bunkers, let alone the owners of the golf course were very rude and not accommodating at all. I have been playing golf for over a decade now and I have never experienced this bad of an encounter at any golf course in all my life. I would not recommend going to this course even for free. I feel terrible to the members when the ownership changed, back in the day I used to love this course, now I cant go near it because of the staff, ownership, course, and overall experience.... Dont waste your lovely day golfing here go somewhere nice and enjoy your day golfing, because I promise you, you wont have a fun day at Marlwood.
Good course... friendly staff
They needed a marshal to put all the twosomes together. Extremely slow since everyone was a twosome. We asked if the people behind us wanted to join us and they declined. i get it in part but it slows everything down
in very poor shape
under new ownership and still in very poor shape. bunkers with hard sand and rocks. dandilions everywhere.
needs some work
Course was in poor condition good be a decent short layout but has been neglected for a long time --- start back at square one -- focus on service and taking care of the course
Great Condition
Good challenge for a shorter course. Greens are some of the best I've played on. Nice views of the lake too.
Banal
Sorry I wasted my time and money here. Heard about the changes and wanted to check them out. Still a hole in the wall. I found the staff to be testy and rude. Maybe the owners should pay them? Is everyone a volunteer there? my pants were full of dust from the cart paths and blowing sand in the parting lot. No where to shower and clean up afterwards.
Marlwood golf course review
management have made some real improvements to this course. A lot of trees were taken down to open the course to the adjacent lake. The greens are a 5 star rating now, the fairway a 4 star and the clubhouse has been entirely re done. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall a 4 star rating.
Members Own the New Owners
Real owners of the course are the members. Can't get play when you want to because differnt set of rules for the members and public. But blame new owner. He only wants weddings. He thinks members are misers and cheap. Bunkers are hard clay. New Owner has poorly trained staff. Worst Golf experience ever. Lost too many balls in the thick rough.
Best it has Ever Been
Course has come a long way since its re-opening mid-June. The greens are outstanding, the sand traps have what seems to be new sand, and the overall condition of the course is excellent. I played here for years and have not seen it this nice. Good to see the course busy on a long weekend with nice weather.
Terrible - Never Again
I have played this course a few times this year and last Saturday was the third time I have walked off the course without completing my round. The first two times was a result of slow play and there being 18 people on the 1st tee at the same time.
I pointed out to the gentleman in the pro shop that they were still selling tee times on golf now for our tee time which was obviously booked and he seemed to take exception to this stating that they were not overbooking the tee slots.
Last Saturday was my last round on this course, whilst we were on the course there was a single player playing in front of myself and my wife, when we got to the 8th green I noticed he was playing 5 balls off the 9th tee. This was backing up the course. When the single player finished the 9th he exited the green and I took my shot, unknown to me he was still playing one of his 5 balls and walked back out on to the fairway (after putting out one ball). My wife and I shouted fore as my ball was in the air, he looked over said nothing and putted out another ball.
When we finished the ninth I spoke to two employees in the starters hut and explained the issue with the slow play, neither seemed very concerned and made no attempt to speak with the single player who was now on the tenth fairway (playing several balls). When I made my way to the tee I noticed my wife was upset and she informed me that the single player had shouted at her, calling her a f***ing b***h. We both teed of and walked down the tenth. The single player was on the 11th tee shouting and swearing at myself and wife. I approached him and explained to him we shouted fore (which is what he seemed to be complaining about). As I came closer to him he swung his club in the air and continued shouting and swearing.
As a result we walked back to the starters hut and informed both employees that they should probably call the cops, one of which went out to speak to the single player. This is the 1st time in 20 years as a golfer that anything like this has ever happened, it maybe preventable if there was a marshall on the course, which there is not on this course. It is an absolute shambles, we will not be back.
what golfcourse in ontario lets your shower and clean up after there round?
