Hidden Creek Golf Club
About
Nestled along the banks of its namesake Hidden Creek, this is a links-style/traditional combination that rolls through oak and mesquite groves. The fairways are narrow and trees line every hole. The greens are fast and huge, and lakes come into play frequently along with numerous dogleg fairways. The course was designed by Stephen D. Plumer, who incorporated a few split fairways to spice up the layout.
The best hole is the 448-yard No. 8, which forces at least a 230-yard tee shot over water to a tight landing area and an approach down the dogleg-left fairway to a multi-tiered green.
Getting there : From I-20, take I-35 south, and drive 10 miles to Renfro Rd. Stay on the access road and the course is on the right side.

Fun course
Layout was great. As advertised. Player on 03/29 so I will hold on condition of the course. Friendly staff. Good practice area.
HORRIBLE
I’m avid golfer in the area. Play multiple courses within a 20 miles radius of this course. I come back thinking it will be different but it never changes. IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER GOLFER DO NOT PLAY HERE. This track is awesome. But this is for avid, skilled, “ready golf” players. They never space tee times out enough. Pace of play is always terrible. I’ve played this course multiple times and I have never finished a full 18 holes. Going back on strike and not playing here anymore.
Nice layout
I love playing the course. Very nice layout greens were in good condition for this time of year. The course could use a little bit of TLC.
Must be patient
Been playing here for three years and doesn’t matter which day of the week you go you’re always gonna be waiting. I have never played 18 holes at this golf course. They have too many people on the golf course at one time. Today I was paired up with a couple ladies so they decided to skip holes and we decided to follow and skip two holes because there was seven people walking. And then we get to 16 and we decided just to leave early again. As we’re leaving, we pass everybody and there were 16 people taking their time golfing the last three holes.
One hour through 3 holes
No Marshall or anything to keep the pace of play up. Absolute hacks are on the course. Be prepared for a 5+ hour round.
Good round of golf
It had rain couple days before. Course in good shape. The greens were very good at a very good speed. The bunkers after the recent rain were very playable.
Bad course
The place is in horrible, condition greens and fairways and dirt patches. The pace of play is slow they put tee times way to close together and everyone is jammed up. And lastly the speed limit on the carts are crap it changes so quickly it jolts you from 11 mph to 8.
overall was just a bad course. pace of play terrible, i went with a family member and it was a 5 hour round. greens are in very rough shape. some of the pin locations are just a joke. some of the pins are in the middle of a up and down hill slope, so if you miss the putt your putt just rolls back or even farther from where you started. greens were bumpy from 1-18. fairways were patchy with spots of grass and just dirt. overall not very good.
Perhaps trying too hard to be a "challenge"
This is a course that really makes you question if the reward of driver is worth the risk off the tee considering hazards and narrow fairways with minimal rough until the ball will bounce off into the brush. Several tee boxes partially blocked or narrowed significantly by trees, limiting options off the tee to find the fairway. Multiple blind tee shots as well. Frustrated by the concrete rolled fast and firm greens. Several had pin placements on slopes where the ball would just continue to roll several feet away with even the most gentle of strokes on a short putt, sometimes even rolling backwards from the uphill comeback putt. Our group agreed putting was a joke by mid-round. Not a fan of greens with this combination of speed, slope, and firmness. Seems to be the result of a modern push to make "tour-style" greens on public courses but with grass and slopes that result in borderline unplayable conditions for amateurs. Fairways generally good but some had patchy / bare spots. Tee boxes were a mix of good and bad playing the white tees suitable for my handicap and my first time playing the course. Most were reasonably level. Might play again, being more conservative to hit more fairways, but wouldn't expect to score well on these greens.
