Hidden Creek Golf Club
About
Nestled along the banks of its namesake Hidden Creek, this is a links-style/traditional combination that rolls through oak and mesquite groves. The fairways are narrow and trees line every hole. The greens are fast and huge, and lakes come into play frequently along with numerous dogleg fairways. The course was designed by Stephen D. Plumer, who incorporated a few split fairways to spice up the layout.
The best hole is the 448-yard No. 8, which forces at least a 230-yard tee shot over water to a tight landing area and an approach down the dogleg-left fairway to a multi-tiered green.
Getting there : From I-20, take I-35 south, and drive 10 miles to Renfro Rd. Stay on the access road and the course is on the right side.

Awesome
First time playing this course. Great course in great condition. Short par 4's and nice par 3's.
Curse needs better TLC
Anyone playing this course knows the cart paths sit 6 inches higher than the ground in the majority of locations. Mud ruts are everywhere and have been for a long time. Staff is excellent, bar and cart personnel were astounding and courteous. Pro shop and other staff were great as well. We were cart path only due to recent rain so rate of play was very slow.
No refund
I'll start this off by saying I signed a non-refund policy through golfnow for mansfield national, but funny enough i contacted mansfield national and they're willing to refund my money. we had torrential thunderstorms in dfw the night before my time and I tried to cancel and it wouldn't let me. not only that, I tried to contact golfnow but there's literally no availability. if I could give 0 stars I would, first review ever written but when you're paying $150+ to do something its bogus.
GPS system stopped working on the back nine
Course was soggy due to the rain the night before witch was expected. The GPS system stopped working on the back nine so we had no way of getting shot distances during our round
Great condition
Played Sunday Oct 13 as a solo and the course conditions were great (holes 6,7 and 9 fairways were currently getting redone in some areas but still playable), greens were soft and rolling great. I highly recommend playing before it gets cold!
Greens are perfect, the course isn’t
I played this course hearing the great reviews and my expectations were not met. Every single green was perfect, but the fairways and tee boxes were not greatly attended to. There were maybe 7 holes that were cart path only, understandably par 3’s but on other holes it was cart path only because of freshly laid sod that seemed to be set upon the old grass. It was protruding off the ground and stopped a couple of my balls. But other than the fresh Sod, mediocre fairway conditions, the slightly unkept tee boxes, and the drunks in front of me not letting me play through it wasn’t all that bad. 3/5 stars for me
Stay Away
5-1/2 hour round on a Tuesday. Not to mention the range was closed and multiple fairways under construction.
A few issues to fix
The course is tight & requires quite a bit of accuracy so if you don't know where your shots are going this is not the course for you. GPS on carts is useful to show where you to go & provide yardage but the speed of play function is out of whack. There was a very slow group of 2 players who had no idea of the chaos they were causing behind them. At one stage there were FIVE groups waiting for them to play. The GPS gave us warnings that we were behind the pace of play but there was no where to go & it would appear no course staff were doing anything about the slow group. In total it took 4 1/4 hours to play the round which was pretty good all considered. It makes you wonder what the pace of play on the GPS is actually set to. Also, 9 min tee slots is probably too tight for this course given the number of tight & also blind tee shots. If the field sprea out more it would be more enjoyable for all golfers but that comes back to management. Do they want to make the golfing experience more enjoyable for the paying players or simply coolect more green fees?
There's so much going for this course with a great layout, smooth (but slow) greens, tees & fairways in most cases although there were a few holes being re-turfed resulting in cart path only but no course warnings on Golf Now. It just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when problems that could be easily fixed are not.
GPS annoying
There are wide patches of unplayable areas in or near the fairways. But the most frustrating thing is the disabled golf carts due to faulty GPS system. Many times we were nowhere near the "no carts" signs and the carts are disabled and you have to back up. Even worse this happened over 4 times while we were on the cart path! We even had to get back to the club house on the cart path in reverse! They just said they knew they had an issue....
Made the most out of it
I’ve heard of the issues with the new golf cart and this past week, I experienced it first hand. Yes there nice and new but they are the biggest headache. If you go in the red zone it has a Kill-switch that kills the golf cart. Then you start turning your wheel and trying to drive out and it will not let you. So you have to get out and push it. Not only me but ahead of me I seen other people out pushing as well. Then from hole 2 the screen consistently tells you how much time you’re off of pace. Mine got up to an hr. Skipped the last 2 holes. Went to the club house asked why the carts are like that it took 5 sec for the gentleman to come out that Office and start to apologize and he told me that they just got those 5 months ago and they know that they have issues to them. So he knows they have issues just not going to fix it. He said don’t turn the wheel and go forward you have to reverse out the red zone. I also told him about the pace. I told him I can only go so fast because of the people in front of me. They just kept apologizing and at that point I was so frustrated I just left.
Solid
Solid course. Amazing course to have in town. Challenging greens with levels and tricky lines. Makes you think about your tee shots and place them where you need.
Nice track
Nice track for the price & location I would definitely recommend!
Hidden Dump
This course is just a travesty. Terrible water or flooding issues. Cart path entry to fairways were just a joke. Water, Pot holes, mud, everywhere. You’d
Think we had just come out of 3 straight weeks of storms, by the amount of water on this course. Rattling and almost tipping over the carts in some situations while trying to enter and exit fairways. Tee boxes with 100-150 broken tees, everywhere, trash all over. I mean does the Superintendent or Course Manager even drive around the course to see the conditions? Or do they just work remote? LOL.
This course is only a few notches above Split Rail in Aledo. If you know you know.
Pace of play was horrific for a Thursday. Hackers hitting 3-4 times a piece in a group of 4. No Marshall.
Now, we get to the over-aggressive GPS settings on these carts. It’s laughable that a course in as bad a shape as this one, even has Geo-Fence on these carts. I mean, you go up to a green and there are 2 foot indentions with tractor tire marks everywhere. 🤣🤣🤣 Green number 10, for those curious. Then being slowed down by limiter on open cart paths, slowing to a snails pace in open areas (not just the blind spot areas) It’s just a nuisance at this point.
By Hole 12, partner and I were just going through the motions and not really caring anymore. Poorly managed courses kills pace, and just overall experience of the round. I will not be back to this course, and will not recommend it to anyone. Too many better options in Johnson and Tarrant County area.
Nice Course! Would play again!
Nice course, well kept! A couple of holes were under improvement, overall very nice course.
