One of Best Public Courses in DFW
Great conditions. Staff super friendly. Some of the most picturesque par 3s in DFW. Big gap between Black tees and one up. Course played shorter than listed—good runout on fairways. Only complaint was rough a little thick. Had a few good shots that just missed fairway that were too hard to find.
Great Course and Improved Conditions
The recent heavy rain has made a positive impact on the course. Nice layout, friendly staff, and good pace of play. On my regular rotations in DFW>
Least Fun Round in a Decade
What is the point of telling us we are 35 minutes behind pace if someone doesn’t come out and tell the group in front of us to speed up? Waited 1,2,3+ minutes on every shot for the entire round. They wouldn’t let us play through.
Other than that the course was in good shape, the greens were still recovering from aeration but in pretty good shape. Just bad luck stuck behind the slowest 3some on the planet!
Course is in Bad Shape
Cart path only with smart carts that only allow you to stay on cart path. 3 hour round as a single but course is in bad shape. Tee boxes and greens were punched and sanded. Grass on greens is problematic on most greens and fringe is bald too. Rough hasn’t been mowed and is about 6 in tall. Easy to lose balls if not on the fairway unless you step on it. Water has ponded on some fairways where there shouldn’t be water. Course has water on course but driving range is closed because it’s flooded. Overall ok course but is in bad shape and not worth full price.
Greens were sanded
Love the layout. Greens were sanded and bunkers were washed out due to heavy rains. Give it a couple weeks will be great.
Pricey for what it is
About half of the greens are pretty bumpy. They could benefit from a marshal to keep pace. I like this course and it is in OK shape but green fees are pricey for what you get.
Solid course
Course was in pretty good shape for early Spring
There were some rough spots on some greens and tee boxes and a few fairways
Otherwise enjoyed the play here
Love this place!
An example of what a well run course should be - everything from the practice facilities to the course amenities, course conditions ( some fairways still need some work), etc... are done well! The marshal's even do their jobs w/ speeding up play! Kudos Southern Oaks! Please keep things running well!
