About
Alsatian GC is an 18-hole with water in play. Front side fairly open and flat, almost links type play. Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Back side is hilly and has lots of trees. Super finishing hole with a tree in center of uphill fairway.
Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.
Lodging: The Alsatian Inn is located approximately two miles from the club. A very nice facility, it has ninety rooms, a swimming pool, and a really good restaurant. Children under the age of fourteen stay free.
Distance: About 30 minutes from downtown on Highway
90 West to Castroville. But worth the trip.... Take Highway 90 West through Castroville; turn right at the blinking light just past the Alsatian Inn; veer left on CR 4516. Course is 2.5 miles down on the right.

10/18/20 Round
Great round with my son. Had an opportunity to play with another father/son couple. Great day of golf and late lunch. One of our favorite places to play. Staff is always professional and makes us feel welcome
Awesome course
In the middle of nowhere. In awesome shape. Fast greens. Nice food. Really a nice course. Very impressive!!
Golf etiquette
I’ve played here many times. One thing that happens over and over again is slow groups not letting a single player play through. Every time and this time was the worst. I enjoy playing alone, the twosome in front of me asked if I would like to join, I politely decline. And the third hole (par 3) they took quite a while to finish the hole, after I tee’d off (landed off the green to the left) I noticed the twosome two groups ahead was about finished with the next hole (par5) while the two in front of me were still teeing off. I rushed to finish the hole so that I wouldn’t hold them up if they were waiting to let me through. I got to the tee box just as the second person finished teeing off. Instead of asking me if I would like to play through they got in their cart, I then asked if I could play through. Well... I was very rudely told NO, the person said that they asked me to join and since I said no, tough luck I would have to wait. I tried to explain that I like to play alone, I don’t want to rush them and the entire hole ahead (par5) is open. He just laughs at me and tells me to deal with it. Well I said some words that maybe I shouldn’t have (called him an a-hole). He got out of his cart and actually rushed at me as though to fight me!!! Wow! So instead of dealing with them I decided to skip the hole all the wile having them call me name and heckle me (I responded in kind which I shouldn’t have). I wanted to call the club house and complain about them, but evidently they are regulars there and I would likely be the one penalized for the altercation. Needless to say this was one of the worst golfing experiences in my life! This club should really teach their customers the basics of golf etiquettes.

changes and condition
Used to be a decent layout and was always in fairly good condition .The new layout ruined a lot of good holes and the condition of the course was much worse than I ever remember. In fact it was awful! Greens were awful ,pace of play was awful, partly due to changes in layout.

Layout is great
great course for a round of golf. Grounds are very well maintained borderline pro level coursework. Holes 1 & 2 can easily get confusing or dangerous haha but overall the layout is nice.

Quirky layout
Overall I did love playing here! Only issue i had was that I hit to the wrong green twice. 2nd hole & #11 both are in weird locations with #2 being hidden completely out of site from approach shot up to 150 yrds even. The other issues was the amount of grass and turf on course as it was a little skimpy for my taste. After this the course was very fun to play and elevation change was used very nice. Do enjoy when you come out!

Great course
I enjoyed playing on this course. It is wide open making it easier to stay on the fairway and with a few water hazards to mix things up. The course is also well maintained. I also enjoyed the friendliness of the staff: they are very welcoming.

Exceptional value
I didn’t know quite what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. This course is an amazing value and definitely worth the short drive from San Antonio.
They should improve # 3 greens it’s been ugly ever since.
Thank you for the review! However, I think you meant #2. It is theeye sore! We have had a problem with that green because the soil has too much sodium and doesn't allow for the roots to take hold. But I have GREAT news, we are rebuilding #2 from scratch. We will demolish it and rebuild it with good soil, elevation, slope, and grass beginning February, 2021. We are very excited to finally get this project underway. #3 is the Par 3 and it is in good shape. Please follow us on social media to see the progress.
