Entire Course had a horrible smell
A pungent smell went throughout the course. From the smell of urine, dung and wet dog.. I don't get it.
The greens have numerous crab grass spots blowing any chance of an accurate putt.
The concession was closed.
Overall, not impressed for the money. Will be an exception to return.
Pretty course.
First time playing and throughly impressed. Course looks great.
Pleasantly surprise
Who is giving it a higher rating the only drawback was is that the greens need a little bit of de-weeting, had a great time with the three fellas I was paired up with. In my book this is a hidden gem.
Crosby TX
Tee Boxes - 12/18 weren't bad.
Fairways were like hitting off of concrete, it was honestly better being in the first or second cut
Greens - weed/crab grass management was pitiful. Like putting through a minefield. Where there actually was grass it wasn't bad.
Newport GC
Course has been in really good shape in the past, I was not impressed with the course conditions this time. The course was really wet & rutted up, the greens & tee boxes were in really bad shape….worse I’ve ever seen. Didn’t look like much care has gone into keeping up with the course on a daily basis. I will not be playing there again unless things change, nor will I recommend playing there especially for $30 per round. The condition the course is in now is not worth $10-$15 per round IMO.
Improved Conditions
The course was in better shape than from a few months ago. A few of the greens were a little rough, but playable. There’s were water leaks near some of the greens & a few tee boxes were very sandy, but overall it was in good shape. Nice to have cold water back on the course. Bunkers were very much improved & the carts ran well and were clean.
Not bad for $25
This course claims the grass is Champion Bermuda, but the greens had some crabgrass and several green side areas were St Augustine. The worst aspect of my round was the pace of play, and no Marshall on the course to push the groups that were a problem. All-in-all, still not bad for $25 dollars with how expensive golf has become in Houston.
Greens excellent — bunkers well tended - fairways pristine - overall really enjoyed the round !
Good course to have a chill time
It was a rainy day but still managed to complete all 18 holes, would be a much better experience if it was a dry day but that’s Houston weather for you
