Cedar Crest Golf Club

       About
Cedar Crest Golf Club in Murfreesboro sprawls across rolling farmland accented with groves of mature trees. The fairways on the front nine are wide open but they become narrower and tree lined on the back nine. The greens play fast and true and they are also well conditioned. There are not many sand traps to contend with but a smattering of elevation changes throughout the golf course cause an occasional uneven lie. Seasoned golfers looking for a challenge won't find it here but what you will find is a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal for a quick, casual round that is player friendly enough for beginners. In addition to the course, Cedar Chest Golf Club offers extensive practice facilities including a driving range and a two-tiered practice green.

Very pleasantly impressed
Booking and check in was painless. Course was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Greens were in great shape, fairways were well manicured. Tee Boxes could use a little maintenance but otherwise I found course to be fair, beautiful and a pleasure to play. Would play there again anytime!
The worst management in Nashville area
Man, what a nice course for the price. $55 for a hot deal on a Sunday. Very solid conditions as well.
But holy mackerel - you guys have no idea how to manage a golf course.
You have 3 people working the counter (there’s two registers), you guys have 3 people watering the greens on a packed Sunday.
But no Ranger or Starter making sure the pace of play is reasonable?
Make it make sense.
We were a 4 some on carts. The group ahead of us was a 2 some walking. The group ahead of them was a 1 some walking.
Who managed those tee times?
The 2 some ahead of us was BAD. They were playing the tips. And flubbing half of their shots. Playing double bogey golf at best.
They were also waiting when the group ahead of them was two shots up.
By the end of the 8th hole we were annoyed. So we skipped 9 and went to 10.
10 had 2 guys in 1 cart waiting.
2 more folks pulled up and the 2 guys waived em thru.
Then 2 more guys showed up to pair with the initial group waiting.
I guarantee both groups took 10-15 minutes at the turn.
We skipped 9 and still waited 15 minutes to tee off on 10.
The 4 some ahead of us was a group of teenagers getting hammered and taking 20 minutes a hole. We were an hour into the back by the time we got to 13.
That 4 some also only had 2 bags. Which is unbelievable on a Sunday with cart path only.
We skip them on 13. Then get to the 14 par 3 and a guy is watering the green. He completely ignores us on the tee box. So we just skipped to 15.
Have to wait a bit on a walking 3 some the rest of the round but wasn’t terrible.
On the par 3 17th there was 3x greens keepers sitting in their carts under a tree. Why do you have 3 people on the clock sitting under a tree with nobody managing the pace of play????
I have no issues with a 4.5-5 hour round when the management is TRYING TO MANAGE THE COURSE.
But when you fully neglect pace of play and completely mis allocate your resources to unnecessary employees, it’s annoying.
We skipped 3 holes and the round still took 4 hours and 10 minutes.
If we wouldn’t have skipped folks it would been 5.5 hours at best.
Here’s what yall need to do;
Get a starter, a ranger and a cart girl. Those three roles will tremendously improve the pace of play.
The starter ensures that people are paired properly and actually have 1 bag for each player.
The ranger simply ranges the course and makes sure people aren't taking 20 minutes a hole.
And the cart girl serves people during the round so folks don’t need to take 10-15 minutes at the turn.
Don’t have 3 pro shop workers on staff and 3 greens keepers without the 3 roles listed above.
Hopefully you take this to heart. I’m not trying to be mean but you guys are running the course the wrong way.
Wish you the best but won’t be playing here again.
Disgraceful pace of play…
Good conditions, seems well kept…
But an absolute disgrace when it comes to pace of play. In 20 years of playing golf I’ve never had such a terrible experience at a course. Having to wait 10+ minutes each shot, people waiting till someone’s on the green to tee off on a par 4 and 5. No ranger, no accountability from the management handling slow groups.
And then multiple greenskeepers at each green, and on multiple holes we even had to wait an extra 5+ minutes as they watered the greens.
We ended up skipping 3 holes just to get ahead of slower groups and it still took 4+ hrs to finish 18.
I would not recommend booking a round here on the weekends.
It’s truly sad, this is one of my favorite courses to play and has a great layout, but it’s going to be hard justifying to play at this course on any weekend from here on out.
Cedar Creek Review
Course is in great condition. Greens were well maintained also. Highly recommended!
Solid course but rude maintenance staff
I love Cedar Crest. It’s my go to in North part of Rutherford County. This is probably my 7th or 8th time playing and I love the contrast of the open front 9 and tight back 9. We played during peak time on a Sunday afternoon and pace of play was much better than I was expecting.
I will be back, but management needs to fire one of their maintenance staff girls for shouting at us that we couldn’t hit a couple practice putts while she was just about to water the practice green. I’ve been playing golf for almost 30 years and that was the rudest and strangest interaction I’ve ever had on a course.
Overcast dat
My dad and I play Cedar Chris. At least once a week that is our or go to course.Always friendly staff course.Humanities are always top notch and staff is always has a smile. Thanks for all the memories That I get to share with my dad playing at your course.
Not a challenging course but well maintained
Went and played this course april 19th the course conditions were great and the staff was great. The course doesn’t have many challenges but is definitely worth a visit.
Average at best
I so wished that this course was better than it was. Nashville is so short on golf courses in general, and very lacking on public courses specifically. First off the practice range was frankly awful. The balls were old, faded, and dead. The hitting mats were worn out completely & the range itself was cramped The greens were all coated with a blue dye that got all over your ball and stained your clubs and hands. The course has potential & the greens were in good order. Just needs some TLC
Great day
Course was in great shape. Green were aerated but was not a problem putting. Thanks for a great day of golf.
Very expensive for winter golf
$58 plus tax is very expensive for muni style course. No water and bathrooms locked on 60° day. Greens in excellent shape. Fairways good, just dorment for winter. For winter this course should be maybe $30-35.
Decent Course. Nice design
Decent course. Not a tier 1 public course but better than your average municipal course. Layout is very nice. The back 9 is tighter and more picturesque. The only real negative I will mention is the driving range balls all over the 18th hole. We actually almost got hit when when we were on the 18th green. We paid 58.00 to play on the weekend. Reasonable. The greens were average speed and condition. The tee boxes were in decent shape. The course handles water well
Cedar Crest Golf Course
A first rate golf course, well maintained and l landscaped. Friendly, courteous staff and up to date carts
Nice shape
For an early fall round I found the course to be in pretty decent shape. I wish more golfers would take pride in leaving the course as good or better than they find and repair ball marks, fill divots and not throw trash off the tee boxes when there are trash cans at each tee box.
