Makes me want to play more...
And friend and myself were able to sneak away for Thursday afternoon around of golf. There many choices in the area as we both live in Fairfax County. The twin Lakes Lakes course is certainly not the most difficult course in the area but since I play only once or twice a year it's forgiving enough that when you're done you say "I have to do this more often". Which is what I did and I've booked another round for next week. The typography and landscape features make it one of the visually pleasing courses to play. From a value standpoint you cannot beat it. There are many other courses nearby that are at least 20 to 30% higher but do not have 20 to 30% more to offer. If you are casual golfer who always says "I me to play more", try the Lakes course and you will be back in one week not one year.
Good Saturday afternoon round.
Staff was great, got us out early, Cart Path only from the morning rain but not a problem. Green are ok.. Wish folk will fix ball marks. Sand in a few traps was rocky.
Close home.. Grass tees on range was a plus. good practice area too.
Great round. Unfortunate circumstances.
Facility and course were in great condition for a municiple course. Unfortunately there method of payment is limited. We made the reservation on Golf Now with Amex and when we got to the course were told they didn't accept Amex. Leaving us in a bit of a situation. When addressing then manager with the fact that this should be posted for players we were told that's what happens when you deal with a third party?
He could quite grasp the fact that it is their responsibility to inform the paying public of payment options. He then became pompous and very defensive and argumentative. After that unfortunate experience we made it out to the course which turned out to be in much better condition than has been expected. I would certainly play there again if I could avoid interaction with him.
Great day, golf, and people
One of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I have played in my 24+ years of playing. Mainly because of the company and competition.
I ended up losing by one stroke to my friend who shot a 76 (former division I golfer at UVA), but everything about the day was enjoyable. The pair of golfers (regular customers) we played with were good at golf and gentlemen on the course regarding etiquette. It helped that the weather was absolutely perfect.
The fairways are fairly wide with mild undulations and were in good condition. Most of the greens are well-protected and the bunkers were a little stiff. The greens ran slower than most, but the ball still rolls fairly true.
The scorecard provides written tips for each hole which were very helpful as a first timer on the course.
Nick in the clubhouse is a great guy. I will definitely be playing this course again with the same friend who also enjoyed the day very much.
Fairways Good
The fairways and rough were in good condition. They had cleaned up most of the leaves and trimmed all grasses.
The greens are still coming in after core aeration; so they were a little bumpy. They should fill in in about 2 weeks. All in all the course was in good condition. Without the Golf Now discount the course would be on the high side for a county course.
Good for a low key round if you don't care about score
It was cold and windy but good to get out anyway. Conditions were okay but the greens are really bumpy. I have played other courses where this wasn't the case even in the conditions of the weather.
The course has excellent condition
I will play this course again this is very good condition even at this fall weather they keep maintained.
Good condition.
The course is in good condition, they have cut the greens shorter and putting is faster. Course condition is very good. Too expensive for a county course. Holes # 10 and 11 are very difficult.
Goo layout made for a fun round.
Great course was in pristine shape. Course can play at any level of difficulty from the different tees. People were helpful and made for a fun round!
Great place to play
Overall the course is in great shape, with the exception of the bunkers. The Fairfax County area had a massive thunderstorm on the night of 9/1 and it pretty much destroyed the bunkers on the Lakes course. Some were filled with water and others had the sand washed away. Other than that I had a great time on the course and look forward to playing it again.
very nice
every thing is good. green, fairway, staffs
green fee
a good course for senior, especially walking
i enjoyed alot because it is easy to access to the next tee box.
I don't need to ride a cart!
Wide open fairways. Easy to recover on bad shots
Better course than expected. Wide open fairways give your second shot a good look. Greens were a little slow but in overall good shape. Fun course, but a little pricey. Would definitely play again.
Better than some nearby at almost half the price.
With the extreme heat we've had Twin Lakes is one of the best maintained public courses in the area
Nice layout...fairways not well maintained
The course has a great layout...reachable par 5s but challenging dogleg par 4s. The back 9 is challenging with a lot of water holes and the greens were welll protected by bunkers. Enjoyed the challenge. If the fairways were better mowed I would have rated this course higher.
The course has a great location
Course was in good shape, but greens needed a little work. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Very forgiving
If you are the guy who lose a dozen balls per game, this is the course for you. Very forgiving and very hard to loss even one ball.
good staff and easy course
good course but a bit pricey although with the specials that golfnow offers you can catch some good deals
Great pace of play
The marshal keep on a slow group ahead of our group of three. Her efforts were greatly appreciated by us and resulted in our round of golf being completed under 4 hours.
Still one of the best golf venues in Northern VA
Both of the courses at Twin Lakes are moderately challenging and fun to play. Though the courses get a lot of play, the maintenance crew manages to keep up and maintain them in fine condition. Players seem to respectfully repair their ball marks on the greens. Most of the greens were moderately large with some gentle undulations, smooth, and consistent. I would estimate stimp speed at about 9 to 9.5. Though the clubhouse was undergoing some renovations, there were no inconveniences in checking in and getting the golf game started. Starters seemed on the ball and professional. Marshalls roamed the course to keep track of pace of play and did so unobtrusively. The Lakes course challenges a bit more on the back 9 where the fairways present a few uphill/downhill/sidehill lies and landing zones that are somewhat narrower than on the front 9. It helps to have played the course previously so that you know where to hit the ball to leave a best chance approach shot (e.g., #13). Altogether it was an enjoyable golf experience.
