Smyrna Golf Course - Executive Course

Great course, started on back side which was a little strange to me. Tee boxes, fairways and rough are all appropriate length and are very nice for mid August in Tennessee. My only complaint is speed/feel of greens. They were a little spongy and rolled incredibly slow. Other than that, it’s in immaculate shape.

Greens where the best shape I’ve ever seen them. They played fantastic.

Pretty basic flat course. You won’t get into much trouble, I played the same ball all 18 which is rare for me. Course was in good shape.

The course was in pretty good shape overall. Greens are always the best part of the course. We teed off at 8am & pace of play was great, under 4 hours on a Sunday morning.. some fairways were hard but still in good shape.

I came back to this course because I had a great time a few months back. Greens were in an unfortunate state (more to do with people not fixing ball marks and what seemed to be dragging their feet). Bunkers, tee boxes, and fairways were great. 5 and a half hours to play 18 - so slow. I shot a 76 and was not chasing balls everywhere and hitting multiple shots ever placement. I get being out there having fun and drinking beer with your buddies but there still needs to be some awareness of other players and groups.

Also, I get that it has been so hot outside and watering greens a bit more needs to happen to keep them healthy but C’MON. No etiquette at all. One of the guys with a water truck pulled up right on the fringe while I am in the middle of putting. Same guy on multiple holes continued to wave at me to hit on the green while he’s standing on it spraying it all down. Ridiculous.

One of the worst/distracting days of golf because of the incredibly slow pace of play and the water truck guys having no etiquette.

The course was in great shape and the pace of play was about 3.5 hours for 18 holes. The weekday senior rate is very generous.

It was a hot day. In fact, it was so hot that the man in the pro shop told us that if we got too hot, to come back in and we could get a rain check. However, we were told by the marshal we could not take frozen water bottles we brought from home onto the course. I do understand why the course would prohibit bringing in soft drinks, sports drinks, ... but on a day when the heat index is over 100, not allowing someone to bring in a bottle of ice seems strange. He told us we could find ice water on the course at the restrooms. We did not. There was a fountain at both restrooms. The water was warm, there were no cups and it tasted like it had come from an old garden hose. You don't have bottles to put water in because the marshal said that wasn't allowed. Especially in the summer, I think that common sense should be used for water or get actual ice coolers of water and paper cups on the course to help with hydration. The marshal was polite and was following course policy. I just think the policy on water is misguided.

Other than the issue of trying to stay hydrated on a very hot day with no cold water, the round was enjoyable and I will play there again.

Well kept, nice people, great place to play for a great price.

Course was fun and in good shape. The greens are the slowest I’ve ever played and the pace of play was brutal.

The course fairways and greens have improved this year.

Suggest a beverage cart and/or food options that are readily available. It would generate more revenue for the course while making the experience more enjoyable. Also need more direction on how to get from #9 green to #10 tee box.

Greens were in great shape. Rest of course was in pretty good shape as well.

Smyrna is not the fanciest place, but it's a very good municipal course. It was maintained well and not super expensive. It's main feature is length -- if you like long courses you'll like this one. Plenty of par 5's and the 4's were long too. But pars can be had -- I look forward to playing it again.

The course was in great shape, it’s a fun layout to play. The greens are in really nice condition, but looks like a few people need a divot tool. I’m ready to go back.
