Pace of Play
I was a single looking to pair up. There were two groups of three and one group of two in front of me. Additionally there was one group of two behind me. This mess resulted in very slow pace. Big jam at the turn, I decided to only play nine. Maybe tee times can be in groups of four like everyone else.
Smyrna National Golf Course
My son and I played on Labor Day 2021. The course was busy but pace of play was actually pretty good.
They had moved the driving range off of the old mats and onto the grass and it was much better. The practice green was very nice. They don't really have a place to practice chipping very much.
The course conditions were excellent. I play this course 3-4 times a year and it was in the best shape I have seen it in a long time. The tee boxes and fairways were excellent. The bunkers even appeared to be manicured. The greens were a little slower than the practice green, but rolled pretty well. I'm always amazed at the number of ball marks that aren't repaired.
I would return to this course without any reservation.

This course is in excellent condition
Course has a good layout and is well taken care of. Greens are a good balance of challenging and speed. One of my favorite courses in middle Tennessee.

Great course for the money
Great course, started on back side which was a little strange to me. Tee boxes, fairways and rough are all appropriate length and are very nice for mid August in Tennessee. My only complaint is speed/feel of greens. They were a little spongy and rolled incredibly slow. Other than that, it’s in immaculate shape.

I’d play there again
Pretty basic flat course. You won’t get into much trouble, I played the same ball all 18 which is rare for me. Course was in good shape.

Nice shape
The course was in pretty good shape overall. Greens are always the best part of the course. We teed off at 8am & pace of play was great, under 4 hours on a Sunday morning.. some fairways were hard but still in good shape.

2nd time playing
I came back to this course because I had a great time a few months back. Greens were in an unfortunate state (more to do with people not fixing ball marks and what seemed to be dragging their feet). Bunkers, tee boxes, and fairways were great. 5 and a half hours to play 18 - so slow. I shot a 76 and was not chasing balls everywhere and hitting multiple shots ever placement. I get being out there having fun and drinking beer with your buddies but there still needs to be some awareness of other players and groups.
Also, I get that it has been so hot outside and watering greens a bit more needs to happen to keep them healthy but C’MON. No etiquette at all. One of the guys with a water truck pulled up right on the fringe while I am in the middle of putting. Same guy on multiple holes continued to wave at me to hit on the green while he’s standing on it spraying it all down. Ridiculous.
One of the worst/distracting days of golf because of the incredibly slow pace of play and the water truck guys having no etiquette.
