New Years Day
Lovely course and well worth playing, will definitely play it again
Lough Erne - perfection
Really enjoyed the course, played it with my cousins, both of whom had never played here before. They were very impressed with the course layout, and presentation, and as for the views...they thought that they were incredible. They will definately be back!!
Good course, well presented
Good course, conditions of course amazing, greens and bunkers out of this world. You can c the work the green keepers put into it
Family Get together
Had a wonderful time...course in great condition, well manicured, great layout, and with spectacular views...
Rain didn't spoil this day
It poured rain from the 2nd hole to the last but we still smiled the entire way around. What a great track. I normally carry my clubs but I wouldn't recommend it here. Long walks between holes, tough walk with a bag on your back. Overall great experience, will be back
Beautiful course
A wet day but the course was open and played well in hard conditions. Beautiful layout with great scenery. A joy to play will come back and play in better weather. Greens need some sunshine. Fairways soft. Staff friendly. Playing again tomorrow. It's a long walk round and no food and beverage service at half way or no cart service was a slight negative.
Great Course - Great Experience
Stayed and Played The Faldo Course over the weekend as a group of 6.
A great welcome in the Pro Shop to start the round
Everything well sign posted for someone that has not visited the resort before
The Course is easily the best parkland course in the country that I have played with every hole well designed for enjoyment even for a 18 handicapper like myself
Pint and Burger after the round was easily just as good
Accommodation and service was fantastic, I now understand the difference in 5* and 4*
Can't wait to return and do it again, and I might even bring the Mrs as well
Excellent course
Everything from start to finish was top quality about the course and staff
Great Course
Lots of beautiful views to help ease your pain as you lose a lot of balls.. all jokes aside this is a really nice course that will challenge you. i really enjoyed playing it and would recommend to anyone who likes golf to play it.
Glorious
4th time playing Lough Erne and the 1st time in good weather. The course was in wonderful condition, greens superb and given the good weather, the views breath-taking.
Fantastic course but
Fantastic course but greens not coping with emerald isle weather very bumpy and slow other than that very enjoyable
Friendly but unacomadating staff
Enjoyed the coarse as usual, great condition, great layout, one of the best in the country ..However when we asked for a golf buggy we where told there where no available, even though we weren't teeing off to 3:40 late in the day and there where buggies down at the buggie store ,we where then told they where needed for Sunday!!Not a great start to our round, taking into account that darkness would be in by 7:45 ,as it was an overcast day..on the coarse we noticed staff scooting about on buggies, should paying guests not be better catered for ???
Stunning Location but...
As you walk from the club house you are treated with an exception view over the lough in front of the hotel. This continues as you walk over the winding wooden bridge to the first tee. The first is a gentle hole which leads you up into a well crafted second, (don't forget to look back at the top of the second fairway), through the woods. The views from the 6th tee and the approach into the 10th green are worthy of gracing any golfers Facebook page. This in a nutshell is was this golf course offers; beautifully scenery. It does not however, offer a rewarding golfing experience. I am a fan of Faldo designed courses and I completely get what he has tried to achieve at Lough Erne. He has developed a championship course to test the pro’s and he has done this well. As an amateur I found it simply too overindulgent to the principle of challenging golf. I play off 2.7 and would dread to think how the 15 to 20 handicappers would fair around here. I found the course simply too punishing in many places. I love playing a course where you can stand on the tee and draw up a plan to make birdie. Here, the plan will be to avoid bogey and as resort course this is not what tourists are looking for. The greens are needlessly laden with humps and bumps that do nothing other than restrict pin positions. Even during my round I found a few pin positions that were questionable. I also walked around all the greens and found old pin positions that were placed in the most ridiculous of places; some on slopes! I suspect this is the main reason the course is not as busy as it could possibly be given the fantastic reputation (and deservedly so) of the attached hotel. Ultimately, this is a course which offers visiting golfers little in the way of golfing satisfaction. It is well worth visiting if you are in the area but not at the expense of some of it’s peers that are within a few hours drive.
