#5 approach shot. Cool shot with the mountain in the background. Photo submitted by ryantjeerdsma on 09/24/2013
Staff was friendly and helpful as I arrived. I went to the driving range to warm up before the round. There wasn’t much good grass left on the range. It was filled with sand and spray painted.
The starter got us out early due to some late golfers in the previous tee time. He drove us to the first tee and gave us some helpful tips for play.
Most of the fairways were in poor shape. I know the valley has seen a decent amount of high temps. The greens were bumpy and burnt out as well. I was not impressed with the condition of the course for it being a Scottsdale area course and the price.
Mickelson's Best effort?
The staff is great! Outwardly friendly and engaging! They are there to make your day memorable!
Which is a good thing because the course could use some TLC! Greens were crunchy and looked like they were infected with spurge. 60% of the practice putting green was decent. No problemo's on the fairways! Closer in though, VERY tight thin lies! Bordering on chipping off wet dirt roads.
Course is probably better early in the year; but 63.00 is a fair price any time of the year.
Be back? Probably; the clubhouse is nice!
Always a fun place to play
Starter was very helpful when my friend was delayed for our tee time. We were a twosome and played the course in three hours, no waiting and no one behind us. Perfect.
Great track with super staff
Will absolutely play this course again.
Thanks for a great experience
Good Course
The green fees do not match the golf course. The golf carts are out dated. There are better courses in the area for same green fees. The staff is friendly and amenities are nice.
Desert golf
Fun course beautiful desert golf . Second group off in the morning and finished in 3 hrs
A Phil Mickleson owned course. In great shape with fast greens.
Great Pace at Mcdowell
we had a 900am tee time on a sunday..and played in 4 hrs..couldn't beat it. Course was in good shape, not perfect but good. The holes were interesting, good mix of tough and easy holes. the greens were fast as other reviews have stated...a tad thin with grass, but the ball did not bounce and it did roll true. it was our first time playing this course and we all agreed we would come back again next year to play..its a good alternative to playing desert canyon as it has a little more length and room to hit it
Nice course in good condition
This is a nice course in good condition without a wow factor. Staff were all really nice and really helpful. Pace of play was good at around 4 hours - course was totally full with four balls. Some interesting holes, some of which are tight. greens rum true. Overall a good experience.
Beautiful course
Well paced, well maintained, and decent value.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality course in North Scottsdale.
Fun to pretend you are a sloth
If you are into role play this is a great course. You can pretend you are a sloth, a baby, a snail, or a tortoise.
The best thing is that you don’t have to worry about getting here in time to hit balls, your actual tee time will be 35 minutes after your scheduled time.
5.5 hours to play 14 holes. Aim for a 10am tee time if you hope to finish before sunset.
Fun Course but challenging greens
I enjoyed playing here, the course layout is fun but playable. The only issue I had is the greens are way too fast and challenging for the average golfer.
Great course.
Conditions of the course great. Layout very good. Some challenge but not impossible. Scenery really pretty in the area where the power lines were not visible. Liked the changes in elevation. Pace of play really good. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Wholly recommend.
