Hills at Pecan Valley Municipal Golf Course
About
The old Pecan Valley muni has evolved over the years as the successful culmination of work between the Army Corps of Engineer, the city of Fort Worth, and the Tarrant County Water Control District. When the city sold the old Worth Hills Golf Course to Texas Christian University, they were able to fund a deal to buy the 27-hole Benbrook Municipal below Lake Benbrook.
The Hills Course was rounded out in 1981 by Dave Bennett, who completed the addition to supplement this shorter, more wide-open course. The course is less lengthy now but water comes into play often, including the 375-yard 2nd hole that doglegs left around water.

easy to get on
Been playing this course for 30 years. Really enjoy playing there. It's player friendly for the average golfer.
Great place for a round of golf.
Reasonable price for a round of golf. Challenging course.
Father/Son outing
Great Sunday for golf. The cooler weather kept everyone home, I guess. Basically had the course to ourselves. Other than the leaves on the fairway, it was a great day! Deer running across the course was an added bonus!
pecan valley
course is in good condition with respect to all the rain we received lately in the last couple of days.
Not worth the 4-stars it has
Decent course... There are trees and a good amount of wind to make it challenging. The problems were: the bathrooms on the course are outhouses or holes in the ground with no running water. You have water running out there bc there is a water fountain right next to the outhouse. Spend some money and get some plumbing done, there were no charged carts so we had to use one when someone came off the course. The entire back nine I thought we weren't going to make it. No cart girl... 36 holes of golf, the course doesn't turn back to the club house after 9 holes and no cart girl. (Losing lots of money there) Last- fairway is fairway and rough is rough- go pull some weeds and make the fairways nice.
PV good
really good course, well maintained, challenging and tough to beat the value.
River course
COURSE WAS IN GREAT CONDITION!!!! Everyone was great and played for only $12.00. Awesome deal.
Nice 2 B back
Haven't played her in some time, the course was in great condition, a little soft if you hit it short. Temps were 98 degrees and no cart person after noon 1-4. Bought drinks at the turn, under staffed and slow! Big negative!! No Gatorade, only power aide, another negative.
We played front in 2:15 and felt pushed by a twosome, but they never had an opportunity to play through. Stacked tee times, it seemed.
Greens and fairways were in great condition, especially due to the FW Open final the morning of our play. Would play again!
Nice course
Overall a nice course with lots of trees but still pretty easy to play
Great Track
Fairways and green are the best Iv'e seen in years.
Great course
I have played the River course a few times and really enjoyed it. Course is well kept. It is challenging for the beginner golfer, yet still fun. The only issue I had was with slower players not allowing faster players to play through. There were no marshals to enforce the pace of play.
Good Shape for Texas Summer
With all the rains we had in May-June this course was as green as those in North Carolina. The Tee boxes Fairways and Greens were in very good shape. The pace of play was very good until we got to about 15 so over all we didn't wait much at all. The only negative was the smell of the lake water when you got near the spillway which was open at the time.
Good value for the money
Anywhere you can play for 25 dollars on a weekend morning for 25 bucks, it's surprising, especially if the course is beautiful and well kept. I wish the staff was friendlier and helpful, but oh well. Still a good course
Great greens
This was our first time here. I took my daughter here to play and she struggled with the river course. I played an average round for myself shot a 76. The greens were fantastic very quick had several shot that didn't stop like normal. Tight fairways you had to place the ball in safe areas. The bad was the smell it was horrible, my daughter definitely doesn't want to return unless the wind is blowing out of the north. If you want a challenge try this course!
Great Round
Course is in excellent shape , wasn't crowded, had a great round
Great and fun course.
The course offers really wide fairways and good size greens with and excellent view. It also offers some challenging holes as well. Overall this course is really good.
Slow
But it is a muni and July 3rd..so I was expecting it to be slow..but it was sloooooooow...LOL. The course is fun and in really nice shape. There is a small amount of elevation change which was nice. I will be back to play again. The greens were very very nice and rolling very true.
Average at best
1st time on Hills. See why River gets more play. Could be as good as River, layout is good and difficulty is there. Don't know if staff wants the courses to be on same par or has the $ to. Spend extra $ & play River.
Would recommend to a friend
Great course in good condition. Pace of play kept us moving, and the course was designed in a challenging way
The River
Everything about the course was great ! But WET WET WET and mosquitoes galore bring an extra towel just to wipe up the blood from swatting them!
