Lovely course but left feeling disappointed.
Arrived at 08:30 for my 9am tee time to find the pro shop was closed. Enjoyed the lovely putting green for 25 mins before going back to pro shop to get my scorecard. Still closed and no staff there, which was annoying.
Course layout was fantastic but I noticed from Hole 1 that the sanding/stoning that was going on that day on the course was really hampering my game. Shots around the green, whether in the fairway or rough, were essentially like bunker shots. That sand seemed to be everywhere and had plenty of pebbles in it which was disappointing.
I understand course maintenance is a must but I am not lying when I say some of the off-green areas were nearly unplayable.
Course design and layout is excellent but I did drive home that day feeling disappointed even though for €30, it was good value for money.
To end on a positive, I think Hole 11 is one of the nicest par 3s in the country and a good test for a 140yd hole.
Sligo Gem
Plenty of challenge but pretty forgiving. Good layout and good conditions. Great value.
Great
Great course, one little thing, not always Easy to find the next hole
Hidden Gem
Vastly improved course that will get much better in drier conditions.
Course in good shape, great amenities
Had a very enjoyable round despite desperate rain. Course is in great condition, although no buggies allowed when the ground was so wet. Very little flooding on the course. Nice sized pro shop and plenty of food options onsite as it shares grounds with a hotel. There was a deiving ramge and good practice area too. Can't fault it
General
At present heavy sanding of fairways throughout course otherwise it was fine challenge for any golfer
