The Golf Club At Fossil Creek
About
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

Noticed some changes
This was my favorite course and I used to come here all the time but it recently seems that this course is going in the wrong direction. Staff has become unfriendly nor have any of the appropriate customer service skills. Some prices have went up or remained the same with course removing some of its services (GPS, over seeding). Prices are really steep on drinks. I still have not figured out how they charge $16 for a double of Bacardi. Rum is cheap and that would almost buy a handle. I used to play with a good group of people here on a regular basis and don't see them anymore. Wonder if they moved on as well. Hope Fossil gets better but not paying $70 to play here any more. Not worth it.
Shot placement is a must!
great course but the wind made the day very tough. The conditions were great considering it was winter. The staff was great and the greens were in good shape.
Great course poorly ran
First time playing and course was in great shape. Nice layout forcing you to pull out every club from your bag. Scenic holes with lots of blind shots. Tee time was at 12:45 we where there by 12 and starter didnt let us tee off till the exact time not 1 minute earlier. Marshall parked in the fairway till 12:44 then came and told us we could tee off. Problem was that only a one single player teed off between 12 and 12:45. By the 10 hole we looked back and course was like a train wreck. 4somes backed up. We finished in over 4.5 hours and can imagine the fustration behind us. If we would have been let out earlier this would have avoided the course to be backed up.
A wonderful surpise
This was my first time at this course and it was wonderful surprise. This lovely course is in great condition and played it in 3 hours and 45 minutes with an 8:15am tee time. I played with a regular who commented that it was always in fine condition.
I was most surprised by the pleasing layout. While the course is inside a development, one generally doesn't feel crowded by the homes. (14 however is quite crowded.) The terrain is up and down with creeks forming beautiful cross bunkers.
The greens rolled very fast. Staff was very friendly. Appeared to be a fun bar scene in the grill.
It is 33 miles from my house and I returned Sunday afternoon for another 9 holes.
Great Course
Played here many times. Usually a slow round on a weekend but, not this time , played in 3.5 hours. Course in great shape!
Never dissappoints
Always enjoy Fossil Creek, plenty of variety and challenge, never disappoints. course in very good condition greens true and rolling well.
I would play this course again, but I wouldn't pay more than 25 to 30 dollars and hopefully on a day that isn't as windy.
Mostly good
The only negative thing I have to say about this course is that there is a lack of yardage markers...I get that there are phone apps that will give you GPS and range finders, but it's also nice to just be able to look around and find a marker somewhere, especially on the tee boxes of a par 3. I've payed less to play courses which have GPS on the carts.
On to the good stuff....the course was in great shape, staff is friendly, and we had a great time. Just through up a yardage marker here or there and you'll get 5 stars out of me.
Too pricey
This is a $40 to $50 course. It's not worth a $70 price tag. There a far better courses for $50 then this one. That said - the course is a good course with good conditions.
Great way to relax
This is one of my favorite places to play golf. The Arnold Palmer layout is awesome and the course conditions are really good. I can't wait to play it again!
One of my favorite courses in area, greens a bit bumpy as it has taken awhile since topdressing, but still a value.
Very Enjoyable
Booked a round as a solo player but got paired up by the starter with Matt and TJ, who were great company.
Course in god condition and pace of play was very good.
Would recommend this course to anyone who is in the area.
The course was in great condition.
Course was fabulous. One of top courses in FW without a doubt.
Excellent course
The course is in great shape, even for as hot as it is. Fairways are lush and green, and the greens will hold your shots and roll true! Great place to play if you can get a hot deal!
Shot placement is a must!
This is a great course even though it is slightly more than Iron Horse or some of the other Arcis facilities in the area. This course is all about shot placement and course management. If you are the type of player that wants to go out and hit the tee shot as far as possible and then chip on this course will eat you for breakfast. many of the holes have creeks or marshes running across the fairways. Two or three of the holes have fairways that slope down to the water.
You need to play smart if you are going to shoot well at this course but I think its worth a persons time if they really want to see where their game is at.
the staff is friendly and the practice facilities are good. Like almost all of the Arcis facilities this one is great.
Nice layout
Nice course. Was in good condition although the sand traps were very hard. Markers on tee box were non existent and with generic score cards I had no clue as to layout and distance. I would like to play it again now that I know layout somewhat.
Top course
This is one of the best courses in town. Yes we all enjoy those courses where it's nothing but makes and trees. But if you have to play in town surrounded by houses and apartments. This is the one. Staff super friendly. Course always in great shape. Layout is fun and challenging.
Need better on course management
930 tee time ended up being 1005 due to bad starter. He had no clue how to do his job. Then he put walk up singles in where there were no open slots. This caused slow play all day. Fast forward 3 hours and 20 minutes, we made it to the 11th hole before quitting. Very disappointing.never saw a marshal and the cart person was seen 1 time. Pro shop did give us a raincheck voucher which was good but I would like to have completed the round same day.this seems to be coming a common weekend occurrence at fossil creek. I suggest not playing here on weekends unless you want 5+ hour rounds.
