The Golf Club At Fossil Creek
About
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

I would play this course again, but I wouldn't pay more than 25 to 30 dollars and hopefully on a day that isn't as windy.
Mostly good
The only negative thing I have to say about this course is that there is a lack of yardage markers...I get that there are phone apps that will give you GPS and range finders, but it's also nice to just be able to look around and find a marker somewhere, especially on the tee boxes of a par 3. I've payed less to play courses which have GPS on the carts.
On to the good stuff....the course was in great shape, staff is friendly, and we had a great time. Just through up a yardage marker here or there and you'll get 5 stars out of me.
Too pricey
This is a $40 to $50 course. It's not worth a $70 price tag. There a far better courses for $50 then this one. That said - the course is a good course with good conditions.
Great way to relax
This is one of my favorite places to play golf. The Arnold Palmer layout is awesome and the course conditions are really good. I can't wait to play it again!
One of my favorite courses in area, greens a bit bumpy as it has taken awhile since topdressing, but still a value.
Very Enjoyable
Booked a round as a solo player but got paired up by the starter with Matt and TJ, who were great company.
Course in god condition and pace of play was very good.
Would recommend this course to anyone who is in the area.
The course was in great condition.
Course was fabulous. One of top courses in FW without a doubt.
Excellent course
The course is in great shape, even for as hot as it is. Fairways are lush and green, and the greens will hold your shots and roll true! Great place to play if you can get a hot deal!
Shot placement is a must!
This is a great course even though it is slightly more than Iron Horse or some of the other Arcis facilities in the area. This course is all about shot placement and course management. If you are the type of player that wants to go out and hit the tee shot as far as possible and then chip on this course will eat you for breakfast. many of the holes have creeks or marshes running across the fairways. Two or three of the holes have fairways that slope down to the water.
You need to play smart if you are going to shoot well at this course but I think its worth a persons time if they really want to see where their game is at.
the staff is friendly and the practice facilities are good. Like almost all of the Arcis facilities this one is great.
Nice layout
Nice course. Was in good condition although the sand traps were very hard. Markers on tee box were non existent and with generic score cards I had no clue as to layout and distance. I would like to play it again now that I know layout somewhat.
Top course
This is one of the best courses in town. Yes we all enjoy those courses where it's nothing but makes and trees. But if you have to play in town surrounded by houses and apartments. This is the one. Staff super friendly. Course always in great shape. Layout is fun and challenging.
Need better on course management
930 tee time ended up being 1005 due to bad starter. He had no clue how to do his job. Then he put walk up singles in where there were no open slots. This caused slow play all day. Fast forward 3 hours and 20 minutes, we made it to the 11th hole before quitting. Very disappointing.never saw a marshal and the cart person was seen 1 time. Pro shop did give us a raincheck voucher which was good but I would like to have completed the round same day.this seems to be coming a common weekend occurrence at fossil creek. I suggest not playing here on weekends unless you want 5+ hour rounds.
Excellent Experience at Fossil Creek
The golf course is in exceptional condition and the way it is maintained is unbelievable. The actual maintenance staff is the most courteous and considerate staff I have ever seen.
The amenities are great with beverage carts maintained by wonderful friendly and beautiful women. Will be returning to play here many times to come.
Fun Course!
I like this course. It is a fairly easy course that can cause you some trouble if you get greedy. Play fairways and greens and you will have no problems. The greens were in pretty bad shape after aerification, but to be fair, Golfnow had an aerification alert, so we knew what we were getting into. My only knocks are the course goes out until 18, no stop by the clubhouse at 9 and the price can get pretty steep without a hot deal.
WOW, Wonderful Experience (keep it a secret)
Back in DFW visiting for a few days and found great rate on GolfNow ($25). What a bargain for this course, keep it a secret. I will play this course every chance I get now when I'm back in DFW. Only negative is if you don't like courses routed thru houses, this course might not appeal to you. But the back nine is FANTASTIC! One of the best stretches of holes on ANY course (public, private, etc...). There's a little Amen Corner stretch of holes around a quarry lake on the back nine that compares to any course. Great variety of holes. You will use every club in your bag, not just the Driver and PW. Looks like maybe 20 years ago it was a high-profile type golf club, but with the growth of DFW and all the newer courses it's kind of been forgotten. That's fine with me, more great golf deals to be had here. This is an excellent, well kept course.
