Style Links

Rating 73.7

Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

My first time playing but I will return. I enjoyed the conditions of the course but local knowledge will help lower the score.

Slow play, not monitored

I have played this course many times in the past. It appears there is more attention given to outside activities than golf. Slowest round of golf I have ever had to endure. There are no Marshall's and the drunken 4 somes spend more time discussing how many drinks they've had than playing golf. Get control of the course and it might be worth the cost to play. Should have brought a sleeping bag!!!

Best Course Yet

I have played several courses in the D/FW area, including Cowboys and Texas Star. Without hesitation I can say that Fossil Creek is the best I have played. The greens were spectacular...pro quality for the most part. Beautiful, smooth, firm but not fast, I have never played better greens in Texas. Kudos to the greens keeper. The fairways were in fine shape, and the characteristics of the course are often unique and always interesting...elevated greens, peninsula greens, undulating fairways, a par 5 that begs for a 4 iron off the tee box. I can't wait to play this course again!

Very good course.

Very good course in very good condition right now (fairways and greens are excellent). Extremely good prices on golfnow. Play can be slow, but not any worse on many other courses on the weekend.

Great course, great greens and fairways.

My only complaint would be the pace of play. Our Tee time was pushed back and 5 hour round was a bit to long. Good thing the course was in such great shape it made it tallerable. Over all I would still go back anytime to play Fossil.

They need to manage the tee times better.

If you want to spend more than five hours on a day, that is the golf course to go play. I have already send an e- mail to the general manager of the golf course and still haven't heard anything back from them.
And don't expect to finish the round also, five hours will only allow you to play if your lucky fourteen holes.

One of the best in Ft. Worth

Beautiful layout and design. Course is always in great shape. Greens are fast and lots of water. Was very busy mid morning on a Tuesday. 2 cart girls and a snack shop near holes 7 and 14 mean you always have a cold beer. Course is challenging but there are a couple holes where you catch a breather.

The place was completely disorganized

There was a 40 minute wait for carts. The tee times were running an hour behind. The GM didn't really care when we talked to him. I've never been to a course that was so disorganized and behind.

Great course, slow play

This course is always in great condition especially the fairways and very economical for the condtion of the course. However, play is very slow due to poor course management and/or the marshalls seem more concerned with just getting you off the tee. Had a 2:08 tee time and teed off approx. 2:35. Finished at 7:45pm. At one time, there were three groups waiting to tee off on the 10th hole. Therefore, even though convenient, hard to tell someone to play here unless you have the whole day free.

Fossil Creek

Fantastic layout - challenging holes, shot makers course where you use every club in your bag.

Pace of play distracted from the design and condition. A five hour round is unacceptable. Waited on every shot.

Fossil Creek Golf

This is one of our favorite courses in Ft. Worth. Far enough away from the airport to be quiet and well maintained with wider fairways that don't always bump into other fairways.

Stack you up like cattle

I will never play Fossil Creek again they don't care about pace of play they just stack up the tee times and let you wait 10 minutes between shots
I don't find a 6 hours round fun
