The Golf Club At Fossil Creek
About
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

The course is a challenge
Well maintained course with very friendly staff. The course can be very challenging depending on which tee markers you use so be careful not to get ahead of yourself as ball placement is critical
Nice time was had by all
This place was a welcome change of pace from the other course we played during our visit.
I would definitely return, and the entire experience was a really nice improvement. Nice course conditions, nice clubhouse, good food, really nice overall.
Definitely a place to repeat
Very nice course
I am a average golfer that shots in the mid to high 80's and this course was challenging and fair. Course was very well maintained and had several marshals on the course to keep play moving. One of the best courses I have played.
Fossil Creek
Great course conditions. Nice layout of holes. Beverage cart available and half way house open which you normally do not find on weekdays. Worth the drive from Plano.
Beautiful layout
Great course with all the bells and wistles. Pace of play was relaxed, we were never rushed and never held up. Friendly people and price was a bargain.
The course has great challenging tee shots
The course is in awesome condition it is a jewel nestled in the Northern Fort Worth area. The course is long so bring your A game when you play. A top notch facility with many shots over water. This is a Arnold Palmer course design and it plays tough. The carts are equipped with GPS . Overall design is excellent....a must play if you are in or around the Fort Worth area.
Remains one of the best courses in DFW!
This is still one of the best courses in the area. From the back tees an advanced player will be challenged. Course is in good shape and the greens rolled nicely. I played late morning on a week day and got behind 3 groups of 5 and payed the price by playing in 5 hrs!.....not fun! Stuff happens!
Arnie built a nice layout, and this course has been around a long time, yet it still offers a good value for all types of players. The staff is very cordial, and check out Arnie's Pub for a cold one afterward.
GOOD ALL AROUND
EVERYTHING YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IN A CHALLENGE REWARD COURSE.
great couse will play it again
showed up bye my self got paired up with two really cool guys played at a great pace had a good time
Quirky, but fun, shot maker course.
Hit 'em straight and you'll do just great. The fairways are fairly generous, recovery not a problem, but a good set up for your approach is necessary to score well. The course was not wet, yet we were restricted to cart paths (??); a few of the fairways were a little rough in areas. They have one of the better GPS systems, but was not much help due to the winding cart paths -- this made the course more difficult in finding balls as well as figuring club selection. Being from out of state & 1st time playing the course - was very unsure where to place the ball or just how far to hit due to creeks and some quirky hole set ups. All & all I enjoyed the round, the bunkers were well maintained, not a fan of Bermuda greens, but it is a good tract - I would recommend as well as play it again.
needs to do better job with its marshall duties.
Tee off at 5 and could not even get the 9 holes that paid for.
Great place to golf with friends
Challenging course lots of creeks to go over. Fairways in perfect condition. Greens are very fast.
If you dont like water holes this isnt for you
Fairways in great shape, greens were normal for this time of year. Arnold for sure designed it to challenge you. Depending on your distance off the tee and what tees you use you could hit driver maybe 3 times, use every club you have.
Well worth the money
Have passed this course for years and finally played. Golf now made it cheap. Not at bomb the ball course to much but some holes and can let it fly.
The greens are some of the smallest around but they check very well and hold the ball.
If you get the chance to play I highly recommend this course.
The GPS system is amazing touch screen to tell you exactly how far out you are.
I was wondering how much it would be to play and on 17 GPS popped up 20 to play again tax included. So I played again.
Hit em straight.
Everything is Bigger in Texas
It isn't very often that a city boy from California, gets to play such a wonderful Texas size golf course. The weather was hot, the greens were in great shape, and there sure was a lot of water. After forking over some serious $$ to rent a set of premier Taylormade RocketBladez irons and RBZ stage 2 woods, my friend and I drove out to play 18 holes on this beautiful course. A cool breeze kept us from melting in the 102 degree heat, but it also pushed out balls left and right making it hard to land cleaning on the fairway. Undaunted we continued, aided by the GPS equipped cart we were using. Playing with a cart is essential, because it warns you of various bunkers and water hazards that hide behind some of the hillsides.
The front 9 is a bit easier than the back 9, but the really beauty lies in the last few holes nestled near a quiet lake. I was thankful for the spare balls that I brought after dunking a couple into the calm water, and the greens proved to be smooth and well maintained.
The "drink girls" were in abundance, and we served three times during our round, ensuring that even though our scores were higher than we would have liked, by the end of the day we were all smiles...
Course was in terrible condition for the price
The beauty and challenging layout was incredible. The amenities of a nicer course were all there.........BUT! For a course in this price range it needs some help. Many of the bunkers had so little sand in them that you would hit the turf matting underneath while trying to make a sand shot. If that wasnt frustrating enough, there were many areas (some right at the greens) that were so over watered and muddy that your nicest approach shots would bury in the mud....no GIR for me on 2 occasions due to that...and those conditions made a very enjoyable round into the frustration of never going back !

This is a public course?
This is an incredibly well-maintained course for a public venue. Playing for the twilight rates makes it a tremendous value, too. The course requires some well-thought shot making because you have to lay up on a number of holes. The greens were in great condition for middle of the summer. This is one of the nicest public courses I have ever played.
First Timer
This was the very first time I had played The Golf Club At Fossil Creek. And it exceeded our expectations. It is very well maintained and the design is not typical of most D/FW courses.
Don't think your going to get away with long "Texas Rolls" because there are varying depth moguls on most fairways. Greens are in great condition but you can see tough cup placement if they wanted to. Looking forward to returning with a very early tee time or anytime it's "Not Summer here in Texas!"
fossil creek
the course was in good condition the only thing i did'nt care for was the unfriendly person in the pro shop
nice course to play if it's on sale!
Little bit over price for me $65 to play. The course is in good condition and very challenging to play. Try to catch it on a hot deal or on sale before you play. I thought $65 on the weekend is over price for me.
