The Golf Club At Fossil Creek
About
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

Course is always in great condition!
Best course in North Fort Worth! Course is never flooded after it rains it drains nicely. Excellent fairways and greens!
bit disorganized
Our time was pushed back due to larger than planned participation in a tournament scheduled before hand. Fees and cart rental were zero for the inconvenience but due to the schedule change we could not even get 9 holes in before it became too dark to play.
Course was well manicured and maintained albeit a bit confusing to the first timer since they did not provide a hole to tee layout. The cart paths helped but more signage leading from hole to hole is definitely needed.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful but limited in their powers to administer guidance or assistance. Pro shop was a bit difficult to find( located at the rear of the main building) but clean and inviting.
With more rounds, the layout will be natural to me, but in the meanwhile, hole placement was obscured and not visible from the tee box.
Happy with first adventure playing this course and will return when given a chance to play a full round. Would recommend with mild optimism to others.
Green
The course is in good shape.. Over booked a little and got stuck waiting all day. I think it's a little over priced but its a fun course to play.
Play from the correct tee box
I played Fossil Creek on Monday 5/13/13. It was my first time to play this course. Nice clubhouse and pro shop attendant was cordial. You better like hitting off mats on the range because that's all you have. It was my first clue space was going to be an issue here. The course was in decent condition. There are too many "quirky" short holes on this course. Iron off the tee box and a wedge to the green and probably 6-7 holes. The par 4's you can hit driver on are also very short. It did not find this course as challenging as I had hoped. In my opinion, a higher handicap golfer would enjoy this course more than lower handicap. I played the course from the Palmer tees.....and I really can't see how this course deserves a slope of 137 and a rating of 73.
A fun and challenging layout.
Fossil Creek is a well managed course. The staff does a good job in respect to scheduling players and making sure golfers tee off on time. The course was in great shape as always and the staff was very friendly and courteous.
very good golf experience.
I'm from drouthy west Texas. It was really nice to play on green fairway's. Course was very well maintained. Staff was super polite and accommodating. My son in law - a beginner- commented that it was the nicest course he had played on yet.
I will definitely play Fossil Creek again.
Played Saturday 5/4 after 4pm
The course was crowded, as you would expect for a saturday afternoon. Me and my partner, a real long baller and Pelotero, were paired up with 2 singles, and though we had to wait, we still finished right at sundown, in a little over 4 hrs.
The course was in great shape, the greens had a little more break to them as they were dry and fast. Fossil Creek is kept up very nicely and its always enjoyable to play there, IF you can find the right price. We found a few balls, and lost a few too.
Need to know where to hit it...
The starter was a very nice guy but no marshall, check in staff takes the money and sends you on your way. I wasn't told where to get the range balls, where to get a cart etc etc. I enjoyed the course but would not play it again unless it was highly discounted. This is not due to the course itself but due to the staff. Knowing they charged $5 for GPS on the cart, I did not use it as I had my own. I went in to get a credit and even that was an apparent bother to them even though they should be use to it.
Great course with friendly staff.
Fairways were in great shape. Greens were a little sandy from being recently punched, but ran true for the most part. Staff was great. Highly recommend Fossil Creek.
Don't know if course is under New Mg or not. Loved the course played a few times last year.
Just got done playing Sunday started at 9:00 and got done at 2:15. Cant understand how this happens. It was a really nice course New Owner ? Course management bad never saw a ranger all day.
Then our GPS did not work and of couse charged 5.00 per player. The lady at the counter asked us several questions like we were liying to her to get our money back, like it was operator error. Greens were good Cart Girls and at the Turn Girls were great. Right Now I do not recommend the Course till it gets a better grip on pace of play not greedy for more money 72.00 TOO much for the shape it is in
Greens were dead
Course was challenging and had beautiful views but the greens were dead. Staff were pleasant and replay was 20 dollars. Good course for people who want a tour type course for the dollar value.
Course has a pretty nice feel
Fossil Creek has a pretty nice feel to it. It can be a little expensive, but the course is very well maintained and very green. If you can afford to spend a little more money, than it's a good course to play.
Course will test you in all aspects
The greens were better than many courses. Overall this is very well maintained. I am a member of the PDP at Iron horse, this course is a step up in player abilities, and challenges.
Needs attention
Clubhouse under construction. Carts filthy. Fairways not I. Great shape, greens solid though.
course was in pretty good shape.
I played here several times, last year it was in better shape. There was a few bad spots on the greens, but still in pretty good condition and challenging. Would recommend.
Fun but slipping
This is a good course layout but it seems they are putting money into the club house instead of the course. Golf carts are getting pretty worn as well and the GPS feature is inaccurate.
Excellent course, especially for the price!
I have only played this course once, but I had a great time. The fairways were plush and perfect, but the rough and surrounding grass was browning due to winter.
The GPS cart was definitely a great plus, but the $5 upcharge to use it seems unnecessary. Should just be included in the green fees when booked. A little bit deceiving.
I highly recommend this course, and will definitely be back!3/
Great course, especially for the value!
I have just played this course once, but I highly recommend it. Having GPS carts was a bonus although the $5 upcharge seems unnecessary. The fairways were plush and perfect, however the surrounding grass and rough was brown due to winter.
I will definitely play this course again, and you can't really beat the price for the quality of the course.
Fossil Creek Ft Worth
Fun course to play, greens in very good condition.
A challenge for higher handicappers but playable.
Good Palmer design
Beautiful golf course but slow pace
Loved the golf course! One of my favorites in the area. Perfect fairways, greens, and layout. My only issue was that we saw no Marshall the hole day and had to wait on just about every shot. For the money you spend to play this course they should definitely have some supervision on the course. Took us almost five hours.
