Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

Beautiful Course!!

This was probably the best looking course I have played at so far! All the fairways were in great condition and greens were very well kept. The course was nicely built into the natural landscape and the it had a bunch of picture perfect holes! Pace of play was pretty slow, probably due to the 20-30 mph winds and 40 mph gusts. One big thing was that when I was paying I never got a tee time or if I would be paired with anyone else since I was a single. They just took my money and sent me on my way. Nevertheless I would definitely play this course again.

Course in good shape for winter

Was surprised that the course had an $11 booking fee on top of the $4 golfnow fee.

Hot summer weekday

I always enjoy playing at this course because its well taken care of. With no rain in the past 3 weeks, I thought the course was in good shape with just a few spots where the fairways were burned. The sand traps have the fluffy type sand, not dirt/mud that other courses have, which makes it a treat to be in a bunker here :). The greens were sandy and still had some bumps due to being punched, but the ball sat down every time on approach shots. The cart girls were around very often and very cordial. They do have an avid golfer cart girl of the month there, Melissa....so say hi to her:). Also, I was able to replay for 20$ later that afternoon.

Playing golf in December is a real treat. Play golf in December at Fossil Creek is even better.

The course is in great shape. The greens are rolling perfect and the fairways and tee boxes are green. The are keeping it wet so the ground is not hard. You can truely work on your game during the off season. The pace of play was fantastic. I play a round in 2.5 hours on Wednesday 12/5/12. If you get a chance go play Fossil Creek.

Very good course

This was a very nice course, had a good mixture of holes. The back side is more of a shot makers side compared to the front were you can bomb it a little bit more. The greens were in great shape along with the fairways. The bunkers were a little heavy but manageable.

Great Course / Questionable Customer Service

Course was in great condition. However, pace of play was poor. Also, we were charged a GPS fee in addition to the GolfNow rate w/ sales tax. The GPS yardages weren't anywhere close to those marked on the course and did help at times. However, the GPS was so dim that we had to strain to make out the course layout and yardages on the screen. Additionally, the GPS seemed more like a tool for the course: both to keep tabs / direct us (though it certainly didn't help w/ pace of play) and to assist in trying to sell us food at the turn.

Fun layout

This course was very fun. Some holes were not that difficult while others were much more challenging. Good mix though. Not too tough for high handicappers but enough tough holes to pose a challenge to lowers handicaps.

Interesting layout

While not a long course, you will not hit your driver every time. You need to manage your game, and it is still pretty stimulating. The course was in excellent shape for a non-private course. It really is beautiful. The greens rolled very true and smoothly.

A course where strategy counts!

This is a very good golf course with many interesting holes. Fossil Creek criss-crossing across many fairways requires you to think about your tee-shot rather than just standing up on the tee & blasting away. Generous landing areas if you put the ball in the right place! There are some clever dog-legs which also require some thought - play it again & you shouldn't make the same mistake twice. The greens were a good pace but grain is certainly a factor. A course well worth playing!

Challenging and fun

This was my first time to play the course. I didn't know what to expect. I found the staff very friendly and the clubhouse inviting. Most of the course is straight forward. There are some blind shots and the fairways do make you think as they tilt enough to effect the outcome. The challenge continues on the greens with tiers and slopes. I found the greens to be fair and the putts ran true. I look forward to playing this course again.

Good course

Fairways were in above average shape. The greens were in good shape but were quite a bit slower than I thought they would be. Would have been a much better round if it wasn't 8000 degrees outside, but overall a nice above average course!
