The Club at Frisco Farms
About
The Club at Frisco Farms (formerly known as Plantation Golf Club) was created for the average golfer -- it's a user-friendly course where spectacular play is not required for a decent score. Playing only 6,400 yards from the tips and under 6,000 from the middle tees, the golf course isn't long, and it includes many par 4s that are nearly driveable. Erratic, careless play is punished, however, with out-of-bounds lining the fairways and water coming into play on a few holes. Those short par 4s in particular are all guarded by water. Two of The Club at Frisco Farms par-3 holes -- the 148-yard no. 7 and the 188-yard no. 17 -- each require players to carry water. Pace of play here is better than average because of the player-friendly layout.

Not bad
Greens are improving, course in pretty good shape!
Challenging course
Overall a challenging course, almost every other hole has water hazard and has great curves both sides. Greens are sometimes hard to assess. Wish they had maintained them better
Cart ran out of battery
Course was nice but our cart ran out of battery on the 9th hole, had to wait 15 minutes for a replacement.
Continually improving
Clubhouse looks good, had food ready at the turn this time which is a must. Condition of the course, was good. Had a Marshall on the tea box which is OK, but they really need one on the course to improve the pace of play!
Money grab by couse operator
Played on Sunday 3/15. There was a junior tournament ongoing. It took 3.5 hours to complete 9. Asked clubhouse for a raincheck and they refused. The best they could offer was to have someone drive around to speed up play. Never saw or talked to whoever they tried to send out.
After some research, it seems the tournament started at 2pm with a shotgun start. Why would you even sell tee times during the same time as tournament play? Total money grab.
Pace of Play - Tee Sheet During a Tournament
I was playing as a solo and was told that there was a tournament going on. The clubhouse told me the tournament was from 11-2. I teed off at 2:22. I was told there may be a little bit of a holdup. This was a huge understatement. The group I got paired with never showed up, so I paired up with another solo behind me. The tournament was not over and it ended up taking 20 minutes to finish a hole. We had to bail to the back 9 after 4 holes and we still ran into tournament players. This was a kids tournament with groups of 3. If you’re going to host a tournament, don’t open up the rest of the tee sheet to the public. Better yet, space it out better. 4.5+ hour round.
Slow Play - but no rangers
Play was super slow. Saturday tee time at 2. So, delay is expected. But there were sometimes 1-2 foursomes waiting for someone on the tee box who was waiting on group ahead.
Course has a nice layout but it can be challenging at times. I believe that is what leads to the delays - amateurs waiting for groups to clear fairways/greens that they probably won’t hit but still close enough to wait.
There was no ranger pushing play that we saw which is a good and bad thing. But, after 14 holes and 4 hrs 15 mins at that point, we bailed. When we got to 18, there was no one even on the hole anywhere. Group on 17 killed everyone apparently.
I don’t think this is anomaly. Somewhat challenging course. Saturday afternoon. Likely always slow so just know that going in.
Staff and everyone was great. Clubhouse is real nice.
Pace of play was very slow even for a Sunday in winter. Staff wasn’t very helpful. No carts available when we arrived. Winter conditions were ok. Price is way too high for winter and the course in general compared to nicer public options around DFW.
Lousy conditions for an expensive green dee
The course is in pretty terrible shape. The greens had a lot of rough patches and the tea boxes were not even close to level or well maintained. Pace a plate was great probably because nobody was playing there due to the conditions. It will be a long time if ever until I return to this course it’s a darn shame because it’s less than five minutes from my house.
Ridiculous what they’re charging for this course now. The conditions are horrible, greens are below zero , need to rip them out ! This has never been more than a 30-40.00 course and now charging 87.00. I am telling everyone I know … DO NOT PLAY!
Disappointed
As a beginner golfer, I am not picky with golf courses. However, for the price I paid for Sunday morning, the condition of green was under my expectations with sand on the green, patched grasses.... and my cart died around hole 14, where we had to push it to hole 15 to let other teams go.
I am not sure if I want to invite my friends there again...
Renovated Course and Facilities
Arcis Golf has done a great job taking strides to make this a course worth traveling to. Tucked away in a neighborhood, this course is challenging enough for a weekend competitive round and forgiving enough for a mid-week tune-up. With high-risk, high-reward holes forcing you to put away the driver or end up with a high number and getable par 3s offering birdie chances, this course has something for everyone.
