About
The Carlton Gipson-redesigned Moody Gardens Golf Course is one of the most difficult tracks in Texas, universally considered one of the top five municipals in the state. The Gulf winds pound the course and water comes into play on every hole. Even from the regular tees, the route rolls 6,816 yards, so short knockers are truly at a disadvantage.
Getting there : From I-45 south, exit 61st St. and turn right. Find Stewart and turn right, then turn right again on 99th Street. Drive to Sydnor Ln. and turn right-you'll see the entrance on the right side of the road.

Better than I expected
Not knowing anyone who played here before and not reading reviews I thought it would be just another flat touristy island course. Boy was I wrong! It was a pleasant surprise to find a challenging layout here on the island. As soon as you let your guard down the course bites back with some of the best par 5's I'd played in some time. I look forward to a revenge round in the summer when I hope the wind will be more kind.
Spring Time Conditions
The greens and fairways were better than average but not excellent. Tee boxes were in poor condition. Tee boxes were flat but had different types of grasses and were about 1" tall. Fertilizer has been applied recently. Course should be in excellent shape in a month. The course is still worth playing in its current state.

Fun layout near the ocesn
Sand traps need sand, signage needs refreshing, green were in real good condition. Not work what we were charged thru golf pass

Nice muni course
Moody Gardens is the only choice for golf on Galveston Island unless you have access to GCC. It’s a nice public course with plenty of challenge. Water and wind, and lots of both!

Finest Public Golf Course
I had a tremendous golf outing at Moody Gardens today! I even played well. The ball on the greens were rolling nicely, not too slow, not too fast. Lots of hazards, but one can play a greater score with repetition.
I am really looking forward to playing again and again!!
