Great value for practicing and improving your game.
Great deal for playing an inexpensive round of golf. The course conditions aren't the greatest, but a few of the holes have a challenging layout and the carts have GPS and the greens were in pretty good shape. It's a great course to get some practice in and have a few drinks (which are very reasonably priced).
Up and coming public course
Played this course for the first time and really enjoyed the feel of the course. The course still needs alot of help but you can tell that they are working on it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Hole 9 was tough : /. Overall very much enjoyed my round here. Great job!
Awesome...GPS equipped cart!
Pleasant surprise with the GPS equipped carts! That coupled with the $10 rate through GolfNow made it an excellent value. The course is in good shape with the greens holding their own. Each time I play this course, it exceeds my previous round there.
This course nice greens
Overall a good experience. Some tee boxes and areas near the hazards need some attention.
Just Wait a While, you'll see.
I believe this course has great potential. Most fairways are in pretty good shape, but don't drain well. Greens made the round worth the trip. Ball rolled well and held a well struck wedge. Rough was thick and sometimes punitive even if you were just barely off the fairway. Several trees are placed perfectly to complicate an approach shot if your drive is not accurate. Many of the cart paths are terrible. Several of the tee boxes are struggling.
Water in the coolers was not very cold. All the bunkers were in good shape, even after the rain. You could tell the staff is working hard with the grounds. I'll be back.
Good course in Garland
I played this course several weeks ago. it was in excellent condition.
It is suffering a little on the tee boxes.
The greens are in excellent shape.
The carts are slow in comparison to other courses.
The course is still challenging.
I recommend this course to a lot of friends.
You will have a challenging and good time.
Mediocre course with slow play
Course is coming back after being abandoned by the previous owner. It still has aways to go, and looks/feels like a weak public course, but has potential. The setting isn't terrible and the holes can be challenging … but play was soooo slow. Took us over 3 hours to play the front nine; we gave up after 14 holes. Mentioned it to the marshall, when we saw him, but didn't help. Might try it again in a year or two.
duck creek
we have played it a few times. i shoot upper 90 and partner shoot lower 90. the course is in good shape but could use better yardage markers on tee boxes
card is not always correct
some tee boxes need a lil work also
Duck Creek is Awesome
I played it and fell in love with the way the course is laid out along with staff friendliness. I joined a week later and go up there throughout the week to hit balls and play golf. For the price of membership and all that comes with it is priced for value and fun, without breaking the bank.
A step up from Oakridge
Having given up my membership at Oakridge many years ago when the course started going downhill, it was a pleasant surprise to see it reopened by someone who wants to bring it up to speed. The tee boxes and fairways were a little rough and could use some water (bring your tee hammer!) but the greens were in much better condition than many of the other local courses. They could use a marshall out there to keep up the pace of play. I would suggest staying away from the hot dogs at the turn...overcooked and soggy with a roll twice the size required.
Bad
Goat ranch, cow pasture! I would say that this is the worst course in the dfw area. Tee boxes hard and looked like I was somewhere in a field. Fairways are the same with shorter weeds. Lots of bare dirt spots all over the course. I never take the time to review courses but the fact that I have this overwhelming feeling that I greatly over spend to play this place I felt obligated. At best they should charge 20 bucks for 8am Saturday tee time.
Big improvement from Oakridge
While the course is still not perfect by any means, it's certainly an improvement over the last time I played it (2 years ago). The greens are good, fairways are passable, and the layout is interesting enough to keep you coming back.
This course has potential.
This course could be good with a bit more care given to specifically the tee boxes, there were weeds growing in half of the tee boxes. The pace when I played was outrageously slow. They allowed a pair of 5-some to play back to back on a Sunday afternoon and thus backing up the entire course.
Room For Improvement
The course recently reopened after it was idle for a few years due to the Country Club management running it into bankruptcy.
The layout of the course is very nice. One can tell that this was a CC course in the past. Fairways are well maintained, narrow and the greens were generally green and playable. Like any public course in Dallas, it needs rain. Some areas around the greens were just dirt. This is certainly not a walking course because the distances between some of the holes are furred apart (street crossings) and would slow down the pace of play to get to w/o a cart.
The course itself has bunkers, water, fairways that are separated by creeks, so it can be challenging. I shot a 107 which is right at my usual range of 103-106. Normally, I play Tenison Glen. For the current fees, one cannot go wrong with this course.
Pace of play was held up because of a larger group two holes ahead. Maybe this can be monitored a bit better going forward.
Facilities: they seem to have not been used in years. If management can get the traffic going on this course and generates the cash flow to invest in modernizing some of the interior, this could be a sparkling place.
All in all, the course has great potential once the money is flowing and upgrades can be made. Keep it up.
Good price for a round of 18
Good price for a round of golf with cart, no doubt, But I wouldn't pay a penny more at this point. Maybe they aren't finished updating it yet...there's plenty that still needs to be improved! The greens were okay..some where bumpy and sandy, and fairways were decent as long as you can keep your ball in play and land on them...not very forgiving otherwise. Finding the next hole and the tee boxes were extremely confusing, which seemed to be the same for other golfers, too...it was almost comical! Which, slowed play down and had golfers coming into each other's fairways. (PS they weren't female drivers). At several holes we had no idea where the green was, and tee boxes were poorly marked...one hole didn't even have a women's tee box marked and it was a Par 4. There are only a couple of sand hazards, but SEVERAL water (creek) hazards. On a positive note, The pro shop staff was extremely friendly and provided great service. If you are a beginner, this is course is good for fun but difficult...bring lots of balls! If you like a super challenging course and don't want to pay high green fees...try it, you might like it...you can't beat the $15 price, that is 4-sure!! Me, I am an average golfer but definitely prefer a more well laid -out, maintained course. I had a great time playing with my sister .. that made the day! I'll bring play the course again while the fees are unbeatable, but when the prices go up, I save my money for a more organized course.
Pleasantly surprised
The last time I played this course it was under different management and the course was in sad shape. The present was a pleasant surprise and I enjoyed my round after being away from the game for six months after shoulder surgery.
Just keep grooming the course and you will have a winner!
great value
These $10 deals cannot be beat. Short course but challenging.
Slow play
Like this course but took >5 hours to finish 18 holes
Need a marshal to encourage slow players keeping the pace of play up
Hole 18 is very special for par 4
great value for the money
The course was in good shape for this time of year. The greens were extremely slow - it took a few holes to get the (lack of) speed down. I found this a very forgiving course - perfect for a "Friday Funday" with friends!
There are a few bare dirt spots off the fairway, especially under trees, but that is to be expected. No one seemed to be filling in their divots on the fairways though, I ran out of sand on the front 9 doing that while waiting.
The only issue I had was they paired 2 twosomes ahead of us. The guys teed off together, then played out their shots separately, which made for a long round until 2 quit at the turn. Then we realized the now twosome in front of us was SHARING a set of clubs. We waited on almost every shot. It seemed like forever, but it was just under a 4.5 hour round.
That being said, the re-opening rate ($15 w/cart!) can't be beat. The pro shop said the special is running through 5/23.
