Pecan Hollow Golf Course
About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Always a treat
Pecan Hollow is one of those DFW "finds" for golf courses. Great greens, good layout, fun to play - and pace of play is usually good.
Good value
Overall, solid experience. Got paired with 2 great guys. My son is a beginner and they couldn’t have been more gracious. We had a late Friday tee time to avoid the heavier traffic. However, there were a group of 3 walkers that went ahead of us. We could tell holes were open in front of them and it turned into an afternoon of waiting. A marshal came by and said he had prompted them to move along. They went from granny gear to first. Miserably slow
Sloooooow
This was the longest round of golf I’ve ever played. 3 hours to play the front nine, and finished at over 5 1/2 hours.
Course was in good shape a day after some heavy rains. Greens still recovering from aeration.
I really like this course and layout. I’ll be back, but another near 6 hour round and it will be my last.
Pecan Hallow
Course is in excellent condition, both fairways and greens. Greens on the slower end but consistent with no bad spots. Pace of play weekday was good 4-1/2 hr round. Course was full of players. They also have excellent practice area and green with all grass driving range
fabulous round at Pecan Hollow as always
greens were a little faster than usual and had recovered from punching. overall in very good shape. looking forward to playing again.
My favorite public course in the area. Highly recommended
Water
Really like playing this course, but the water on the course can’t be bone dry for the players teeing at 2pm in 90+ degree weather.
Bring your own water
Was 95 outside and none of the water jugs had any water in them. The beverage cart didn’t have water either. I called the pro shop and asked if they could come out with water since we had the 2pm tee time and first 2 water jugs we passed were empty. Nothing happened. Turns out someone changed the locks on the containers and they couldn’t replace the water. I’m extremely dehydrated the day after and have been trying to recover. This was a nightmare scenario. I brought a Stanley filled with water. I refilled on the turn. That was not enough.
Loved play at this Course!
4 of us played Sunday and it was beautiful. Yes, a little warm, but a nice breeze and the course is beautiful and in great shape. We all loved it! Thank you!
Love this course!
I and two other of my golf buddies played this course on Memorial Day and it was fantastic. Perfect weather; Course was in perfect condition and the company in which I played was superb. Staff was super nice and we are coming back this next week!!!
Poor customer service
Course does not allow single player bookings.
I booked a twosome at 3pm for a 6:21 tee time. My partner was sick overnight and unable to make it.
Rather than provide me with a raincheck for the extra booking, they fell back on the 24 hour cancellation period requirement with GolfNow and kept the money, even though I booked it less than 24 hours in advance.
Nice money grab trick. They have lost this customer.
