Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland

About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Course is in great condition
Course is in great condition. Greens are smooth and quick, don’t over read the break. Pace of play was great. 18 holes 3 players 3 hours.
I mean, meh....
I continue to play Firewheel and it's courses just because of proximity convenience and I can typically find a weekend AM tee time last minute. But every time I play it, I'm hoping it's a better experience. But I think you get what you pay for here. Pace of play always feels like a challenge and there are rarely marshals regulating this. I do wish the pro-shop would advise players to ensure ball marks are fixed on greens and bunkers are raked well after use. The bunkers are always in terrible conditions when I play here and I just think a subtle reminder at check-in to reinforce pace of play, course etiquette, etc. would go a long way. I believe if you tell players to treat the golf course well and remind them, most people will at a minimum make an effort. Pace of play should 100% be regulated as no one wants nor should be taking 5 hours to play an 18-hole round.
Good twilight value for a well set out track
Good value
We played champions and traditions, each 9 holes. Really like the Traditions
Hot and Heavy
First time playing on a last minute golf now deal. Cart included which is essential with these heat extremes atm.
Paired up with a nice guy called Les and it was a nice round. The 3 ball ahead of us were slow and also didn't seem to understand how to speed up their round by utilizing the cart to full effect. Really wish the carts would tell people they are behind on time like they do with being out of bounds.
That was really my only gripe but that seems standard for golf these days.
Only other one was that with the heat index over 107F the water jugs on the course were sometimes out of water.
At the turn I grabbed a gatorade and hot dog which was much needed. Server was very pleasant to chat to briefly.
Champions was tight but managed to score well enough given that I can't put on greens this fast.
Overall, really liked the course and layout.
Good for the value
I have played their before and have always had fun. The track is fun and not to challenging on a Sunday in June northward of 90 degrees in weather the pace of play was good. Until the 15th hole, now granted if you have never played firewheel it can be confusing. Because its 3 different courses put together to make 18. Cleaner direction on the course would definitely help the pace of play.
The greens had just been aerated so it was like putting on a beach
