Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Best course under $100 in dfw EASY…
Probably my favorite course anywhere. I grew up on the old course and this will always be my home. I recommend itfor any and everyone. It’s virtually flawless & the staff is great.
Great Value for the Price!
This course is in excellent shape and well maintained! Really good value for the price paid. I played the Champions and the Masters 9 and a very enjoyable but also challenging round. Would definitely play again and very happy with the course conditions, layout and price! May be hard to find a better value in the immediate DFW area. When I’m in the area, will play again!
Great staff and amenities. Course was in great shape; still green and well maintained. Greens were fast. I enjoyed my round.
Great course with plenty of challenges
The course is in great condition with plenty of grass on the tees, fairways & greens although the tees are very hard (you're likely to snap a few tees). A couple of holes are close together with balls often crossing over to the wrong fairway as golfers try & steer clear of the many water hazards. Sand in the bunkers is heavy so you need to swing hard to get the ball out if you're taking some sand as well. Some holes could do with the trees lining the fairway being trimmed back as there's not much space to play your shot to the fairway. The last hole on the Tradition Course requires a lot of thought as placement of shots is critical to give you the next shot. Most golfers will take 3 shots to get to the green & there's plenty of water to naviagte around & over. Pace of play was great the second nine as we had the option of either the Masters or Tradition courses to play which helped as the group in front were painfully slow the first nine holes.
The course is in great shape
really enjoyed the course conditions. Greens were rolling really nice
Twosomes?
Slower than it had to be. Twosome, foursomes, twosome, foursome…strange. Slowed play a little. But overall the course was in great shape. Great price point. And friendly staff.
No cart person on a Sunday morning is disappointing.
Course is in great condition
Course is in great condition. Greens are smooth and quick, don’t over read the break. Pace of play was great. 18 holes 3 players 3 hours.
I mean, meh....
I continue to play Firewheel and it's courses just because of proximity convenience and I can typically find a weekend AM tee time last minute. But every time I play it, I'm hoping it's a better experience. But I think you get what you pay for here. Pace of play always feels like a challenge and there are rarely marshals regulating this. I do wish the pro-shop would advise players to ensure ball marks are fixed on greens and bunkers are raked well after use. The bunkers are always in terrible conditions when I play here and I just think a subtle reminder at check-in to reinforce pace of play, course etiquette, etc. would go a long way. I believe if you tell players to treat the golf course well and remind them, most people will at a minimum make an effort. Pace of play should 100% be regulated as no one wants nor should be taking 5 hours to play an 18-hole round.
Good twilight value for a well set out track
Course great. No beverage cart though.
Everything was great, conditions pace of play. No beverage cart and only 2 water cans per nine. That’s my only complaint. They used to have a cooler of ice and water at the clubhouse but not this time. I did see a cart girl on The Lakes but not the Bridges.
Good value
We played champions and traditions, each 9 holes. Really like the Traditions
