Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Very Pleased
Played my first round at the Bridges course (Champion and Master), and had a great time. Course conditions were good. The greens were cut a little longer, so they were slow, but considering we’re about to enter the hottest time of the year it makes sense. Pace of play was the only issue, there was a group looking for balls on a Par 3 for about 10 minutes, so I played through as a single. I then ran into another group with 5 players.
I’ll play there again, but close attention to pace of play can improve everyone’s experience.
Awesome
Awesome round of golf. The course was in outstanding condition! Great round of golf
Don’t get a tee time after 4 people and expect to finish 18
Course is in great shape but They are strict about carts back at 8pm… even though it doesn’t get dark until 8:40. The Marshall came out and made us return the cart at 8pm when we only had one hole left. I’ve been playing twilight golf for 7 years now, that’s never happen before once. Disappointing and bad business.
Well maintained and challenging courses
In town visiting a friend and booked the first tee time of the day. Since we were first, pace of play was perfect. It’s a 27 hole course and we played The Champion and The Tradition courses. Greens and fairways were in great condition, however due to recent storms, cart path only, and lots of mud.
Glad the carts had GPS map system, very helpful for first timer.
Overall 10/10. Highly recommend.
Course in great condition
The course was in great condition, greens and fairways both.
Great course!!
Greens were true, fairways were groomed and green, only downside was the snack shack was closed before the 5pm posted time.
Great Day
Course was in good shape and the pace of play was great, 4 hours 5 minutes. The greens putted true with the back 9 greens quicker than the front 9. Staff as usual, friendly and helpful.
Good shape!
Course was in great shape. Fairway were much. Tee boxes were well maintained. Greens were hard. Golf carts were in good shape too. Pace of play was good. Some better signage would improve next hole logistics and tee box locations.
Snack cart is understaffed. We didn’t see the cart girl until hole 14 and we had an early time slot.
Overall great price for the course. Thanks to the landscape team!
Book directly through the course not GN
Sad to only get to play 4 holes due to a storm blowing in and lightning in the area. Went inside for a rain check and was told we would have to go through golf now because rain checks were not available to pre paid tee times. Still waiting for a response that probably won’t come from GN. So basically paid $60 for 4 holes and all for a $5 discount on the tee times. Lesson learned
REFUND COUPON PLEASE.
RAIN MADE US NOT EVEN STARTING GOLF. STAFF SAID THAT GOLF NOW WOULD REPLACE TEE TIME WITHOUT ANY MORE PAYMENT. GOLF PASS GAVE ME CASH REFUND BUT $20 COUPON WAS GONE EITH THE WIND.
Great course
Always a good round at the bridges course. Only complaint is it doesn’t drain well and they tend to overwater sometimes. Other than that fun, fast, and well kept.
Pure "Emerald" Pleasure
Every year I like to play a new course in DFW. I am simply a muni player and have heard of the Firewheel Golf Park for many, many years. Finally had the chance to play and did not regret it one bit. We played the Bridges course on the Champions and Masters Nines (they have 27 holes). An older man working the parking lot gave us some tips for getting around. The course was in great condition. Emerald green everywhere from the lush tree-lined fairways and well-groomed greens. Found the elevated greens and deep bunkers challenging, yet enjoyable.
Afterwards we had our thirsts quenched and hunger sated with friendly and even funny staff.
