About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Good course for the value
Enjoyed the course this day. Conditions were pretty good except the tee boxes were very dry.
Beautiful but Tough
I have played here many times over the years. It remains a beautiful layout, and a stern test. Nearly always in great shape, Recommended.
Absolutely amazing round!
Played at 3:05 today, ended up being able to stay solo which is a huge plus for me! Course was wide open, and I loved it! Honestly no complaints from me today, heck of a round!
Great price. Good course.
I hadn't played here in a while, and I totally enjoyed the layout. Fairways were coming in nicely (spring) and the greens rolled true and pretty quickly!
Lots of odd twosomes out there, many walking. Really slowed the course down. We were out there well over 5 hours - even with taking the carts out on the fairways. Had a single behind us who was RIGHT behind us every time we turned around. Very annoying.
Golf etiquette
Everything was overall good with the exception of the group in front of me. Two of the 4 were sharing clubs and extremely slow with no courtesy for anyone else. They were trying to run over geese instead of going to their balls. No business being on the course
The Lakes at Firewheel
It’s a great course. Lots of ponds to play around. Some difficult holes and some easy ones as well. I would recommend the Lakes to anyone who likes a challenge.
Poor course conditions
Seems like they water the crap around greens - difficult to chip and had to fly ball on green - greens were very bumpy
