Top 5 in my area
Drive an hour occasionally to play here when I get a deal. ALWAYS fabulous, ALWAYS breaks expectations, ALWAYS worth the trip.
Recent tree removal and high grass/collection areas are getting cleaned up for the spring. . Course has 3 cart path only holes the day we played. 90%+ tee to green. Some greens had spots of trouble that was being taken care of., but rolled great, fast and true.
Personally, missed an ace on 11 by 6 inches. Someday I’ll pop that cherry .
Pace
The pace was fine but had a 4 some in front of me they were playing the wrong tees in my book so they were a little so I was a single and they wouldn't let me play through.
Awesome Day
Awesome round of golf at an excellent facility! Practice green was perfect and would be worth a return to get a good practice session in.
Will be back
For the most part in good condition for February. Exception is the bunkers which were dense and needed more sand or to be fluffed. Nice, varied layout. Will return if I can find a discount as it's a bit pricey for my blood and fairly remote.
11 on the Stimpmeter
For mid February the course is in amazing condition!! Greens were rolling well over 10’ and as smooth as carpet.
Unexpected Gem
Tried to book Bulle Rock but the course was unavailable. Booked Mountain Branch as our 2nd choice-it will be our 1st choice next time. Great course and staff, good pace for a weekend morning, very pretty layout in great shape. Challenging but playable.
Awesome course
Great course from tee to green as long as you stayed out of the rough ( we were warned by the starter).
Terrific Course
I'm going to let the rather poor condition of tee boxes go since I'm sure there's been a lot of play by the end of the summer, and after a long hot/dry spell that's pretty much what you'd expect. Otherwise conditions were good even with slower than average greens left to grow longer to protect them.
But the course layout is OUTSTANDING, particularly for a hilly course which nonetheless keeps the elevation changes within reason. And every whole is fair to the player, providing reasonable tee shot landing areas, and approach shots, while requiring you to control your ball. But if you don't hit it straight, expect to lose A LOT of balls into natural areas. (Fortunately, didn't impact me.)
For my money, it's a much more pleasant golfing experience than the nearby Pete Dye design. And less money with just as much challenge for an average golfer.
The course was in excellent condition and pace of play was outstanding, probaly because it was a bit warm!
