An accurate tee shot from the towering tee above the par-4 5th leaves you this short but challenging approach. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The 2nd hole and adjacent 17th are both longish uphill par-4s that are nearly mirror images. Par is a good score on either. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Not a lot of flat lies in the landing zone on the par-4 12th, making the approach that much tougher. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-4 14th is the first time you encounter a water hazard on this course, a nice reprieve. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

THe par-3 15th also has water in view, giving you back-to-back opportunities to lose your lucky Noodle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-5 18th is just a super cool golf hole. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Great Course
This is my favorite course in Frederick County. The course conditions were great. The layout is very forgiving. The staff is very friendly.
Whiskey Creek
Very nice course. Conditions were very good except for the fairways. To many golfers did not sand their divots. An all to common problem on public courses. Greens where in very good condition. They day we played they had the tees up and it played much shorter than the scorecard. It deserved the higher rating it received in the recent best in Maryland. A very well laid out course and fun to play.
Fabulous course
Course was in fantastic condition, very fun to play and challenging. Layout was great and the scenery and views were spectacular. Highly recommend this course. You will have fun playing it.
My Favorite Maryland Course Hands Down
I absolutely love this course! I don't play it much because the rack rate is pretty high; however, they were running an aeration special for $65/regular and $50/senior. Even with aeration, it was in exceptional shape. They use a very fine aeration machine, so there were very small marks/indentations that really didn't cause any putting issues. The course was in exceptional shape all the way around--fairways, bunkers, tee boxes, and even the rough. It was a beautiful morning, had the course to ourselves, and finished in 4 hours. Great lunch afterwards as well. This is a must-play course...even if it's on the weekend for $115--at least once! The layout is great with a mix of challenge and reward holes, and the vistas are beautiful. Kudos to the Super and his crew.
Must play course
I have played most of the top 15 courses in Md and this is by far the best one in my opinion. The course is very playable but has some challenges. This course can be played by any skill level and the scenery is amazing.
Great course and value
We played after 2 when the rates dropped. It should be busy at that time and price. I read some reviews recently about the bunker condition and saw some minor spots but overall was more impressed with the summer conditions being much better than most. Greens were a good pace- maybe 9-10... with ball marks as expected from a public course. Overall very healthy conditions with perfect fairways. The staff was extremely pleasant!
Not quite worth $110.
Not quite worth $110. With elite courses like Bulle Rock bringing their rates down sub $100, hopefully Whiskey will soon do the same. Greens were just ok. Bumpy and had some patches. Bunkers are not great. Multiple bunkers have a netting or liner that is exposed. I had a sand shot that looked like a good lie, hit what I thought was a good shot, realized something grabbed my wedge. Sure enough looked down and saw this exposed netting. Finally hitting off grass at range. That needs to be a standard but why the really crappy range balls?
Great layout, love the 18th hole, but this course always makes me walk away thinking I paid too much.
Very Good Layout
The course is normally in good shape when I Have played it. My most recent round was the first time I have seen the greens not freshly cut and much slower then past visits. A few of the bunkers had very deep sand and even had the bunker liners showing through the sand. That is not something I want to see when this course charges said rates. The Food and Bar was “closed for the day” @ 4:30pm on a holiday? Very disappointed.
Great course slow play
Hot July 4th day but great setting at Whiskey Creek. Pace of play was 15 minutes behind per the cart - not bad for a hot day but got really frustrated when the Marshall with the gold glasses asked our twosome to pick up the pace. Sigh - we waited on every shot that day playing as a twosome and really just shows how out of touch he his with his job. We went to the next hole to be the third group on the hole.
Otherwise great experience with the pro shop, bar staff, and beverage cart.
Awesome track
Fantastic layout and great shape. Greens were slow, but it was a bit damp and a lot of rain recently. We booked for next weekend already.
PLAYED A DAY AFTER 1 WEEK OF WET WEATHER
Considering this was the first Sunny Day after a week of rain the course was in excellent shape. The fairways were cut and they were trying to get the trimming done. A few traps had some water damage but that was expected. The staff from the pro shop to the workers were polite and friendly.
A perfect day of golf
Booked via Golf Now, got the Hot Deal. Other than course maintenance (blowing the fairways, building a new tee box) we had a perfect day. First 3 greens were a bit hairy but played to a pace we are use to at Whiskey after that. No play at all, we were a foursome (hacked it up on a few holes) and let one twosome play through on the back. The staff was EXCELLENT! Play the proper tee boxes and the course is more enjoyable.
Early spring conditions not the best
Course and amenities are top notch; however, greens were recently aerated, and were virtually sand and dirt, very little grass growing yet. A nice variety of holes, no 2 holes are the same. We got a decent rate on Golfnow ($69). Not sure I would have been happy had I paid the $109 rate.
Whiskey Poor Greens and Terrible Pace of Play
Golfers, Be ware of Whiskey Creek, called and booked a T Time and specifically asked when they last aerated and how often they put people off. The lady told me they last aerated the greens in Feb and they put foursomes off at 9 minute intervals. I asked how long the round would take and she said 4 - 41/2. I took a chance on Sat, 4/14/18, at 2:15 with my group, The greens were terrible with very little grass and very bumpy with big sand filled holes that couldn't have been 2 months old.
The pace of play was even worse. By the 3rd hole, the course was backed up. Two 4somes ahead could hardly walk and had no business out there. Ranger eventually came out on the 5th or 6th hole but did very little. The 4some in front held us up on just about every hole, The round took over 5 hrs, past 7 pm! Needless to say we won't be back. Save you money, the course isn't ready yet and don't play on the WE.
