18th Fairway Photo submitted by balexander314 on 11/08/2020

An accurate tee shot from the towering tee above the par-4 5th leaves you this short but challenging approach. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The 2nd hole and adjacent 17th are both longish uphill par-4s that are nearly mirror images. Par is a good score on either. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Not a lot of flat lies in the landing zone on the par-4 12th, making the approach that much tougher. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-4 14th is the first time you encounter a water hazard on this course, a nice reprieve. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

THe par-3 15th also has water in view, giving you back-to-back opportunities to lose your lucky Noodle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-5 18th is just a super cool golf hole. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Sad
I used to LOVE playing here, but it's been several years since I've played here and the course has been in pristine condition. I was really hoping that 2019 would be different. It doesn't look like this will be the case. The ONLY good condition here are the fairways. The tees are not good. The bunkers are not good. The greens are HORRIBLE. I was told that the greens were punched 7 weeks ago. They are rolling like they were punched 3 days ago. I was also told, by the VERY nice starter, that it has to do as much with mother nature than anything. How can this be true when the other courses in this area are in MUCH better shape in late April? I got a good deal on Golf Now. I can not FATHOM paying full price to play this place in it's current condition. It is sad and embarrassing :(.
FirstTimer - loved it
would recommend this course. Greens were aerated but you have to expect that in early spring. very nice views on the course. fairways were in great shape already.
Greens are just not good!
I keep giving this course a chance because it’s such a great layout but the greens are terrible. We were told aeration was done a month ago. If that’s true this course has serious problems. Full rate of $109??? You’ve got to be kidding. It’s such a shame, but course conditions never seem to live up to the price. Would definitely play here more often if the greens were pristine or even just good. Or, if the rates came down. For the money, Worthington Manor much better. PB Dye getting there too. Or drive to Bulle Rock and play there. Laurel Hill in Va., much better as well.
Not a good time
We played in a great day the course was very wet, we played the back nine with many flag not even on the green and ground crew working everywhere and not stopping for your shot or putting
Not friendly at all and not ready for play .they should delayed play if not ready
The course in general suffered a lot of rain this year and look like a poor ground keeping. The price was cheap but I would a rather played somewhere else.
Good day at Whiskey Creek
After three attempts at playing here this month we played it yesterday. Course is great, conditions not quite so, some debris on greens due to extreme winds the day before and some parts of greens under repair due to early in season. Can't blame staff as to out of their control. Enjoyable day on great course at great price.
Beautiful late fall day
Always a treat to play Whiskey. Had the whole course to ourselves. Considering it rained 4 inches the previous two days the course was in remarkably good condition.
cold weather
Course was closed. Apparently there was some confusion between the course and Golf Now.
Someone from Whiskey Creek called a couple of hours before we played to tell us the course was closed. I think them for letting us know before we left to go to the course.
Great Course
This is my favorite course in Frederick County. The course conditions were great. The layout is very forgiving. The staff is very friendly.
Whiskey Creek
Very nice course. Conditions were very good except for the fairways. To many golfers did not sand their divots. An all to common problem on public courses. Greens where in very good condition. They day we played they had the tees up and it played much shorter than the scorecard. It deserved the higher rating it received in the recent best in Maryland. A very well laid out course and fun to play.
Fabulous course
Course was in fantastic condition, very fun to play and challenging. Layout was great and the scenery and views were spectacular. Highly recommend this course. You will have fun playing it.
My Favorite Maryland Course Hands Down
I absolutely love this course! I don't play it much because the rack rate is pretty high; however, they were running an aeration special for $65/regular and $50/senior. Even with aeration, it was in exceptional shape. They use a very fine aeration machine, so there were very small marks/indentations that really didn't cause any putting issues. The course was in exceptional shape all the way around--fairways, bunkers, tee boxes, and even the rough. It was a beautiful morning, had the course to ourselves, and finished in 4 hours. Great lunch afterwards as well. This is a must-play course...even if it's on the weekend for $115--at least once! The layout is great with a mix of challenge and reward holes, and the vistas are beautiful. Kudos to the Super and his crew.
Must play course
I have played most of the top 15 courses in Md and this is by far the best one in my opinion. The course is very playable but has some challenges. This course can be played by any skill level and the scenery is amazing.
Great course and value
We played after 2 when the rates dropped. It should be busy at that time and price. I read some reviews recently about the bunker condition and saw some minor spots but overall was more impressed with the summer conditions being much better than most. Greens were a good pace- maybe 9-10... with ball marks as expected from a public course. Overall very healthy conditions with perfect fairways. The staff was extremely pleasant!
Not quite worth $110.
Not quite worth $110. With elite courses like Bulle Rock bringing their rates down sub $100, hopefully Whiskey will soon do the same. Greens were just ok. Bumpy and had some patches. Bunkers are not great. Multiple bunkers have a netting or liner that is exposed. I had a sand shot that looked like a good lie, hit what I thought was a good shot, realized something grabbed my wedge. Sure enough looked down and saw this exposed netting. Finally hitting off grass at range. That needs to be a standard but why the really crappy range balls?
Great layout, love the 18th hole, but this course always makes me walk away thinking I paid too much.
