Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Back nine bad
The front nine was good. Course really challenge your length off the tee box. Great. But,, back nine is going to fall in the river. Cart path are not driverable and the course has been altered because of land erosion. On Back nine 15,,,16,,and 17 are bad.
Good Greens
Good greens being that it was February 23 when I played. The greenskeepers did a good job on the greens. Not a easy course to play.Highly recommend this course.
Progressively getting worse
Started playing here in the summer and every time I came back until February, the conditions have gotten worse. I wish the conditions were due to the season but it doesn’t seem that way. even though it’s cheap, pay the extra 5 dollars to play somewhere nicer. Had to skip 2 holes due to pace of play my final time playing here.
Not what it used to be
This course is slowly being washed away by the Trinity River. There are things being worked on in the course, puddles of standing water and traps that aren't being maintained. How can the course continue to get worse and the price go up. I've probably played my last game there.
Good Course
This is a frequent selection for me and my friends due to its convenient location between FW and Dallas. Always in good condition just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle slow due to the preceding group playing from the absolutely wrong tee box.
Greens rolled well
Greens rolled well, tee boxes were in decent shape. Fairways were just ok. Like the others courses you can tell they still haven’t recovered from the drought.
Rough shape
Very rough shape from what it looks like was caused by flooding..
Runout with little room to work
The title of the review summarizes well. Small, crowned greens that are touch unrealistic real estate wiise to get accepting shots. Premium on touch and finesse from around the green. Exposed a weakness in my game but will test the purest of chip shot artists.
Great course! Excellent greens
Must play, great value, great greens, friendly staff! Matthew goes above and beyond to help any way that he can. Mahalo🤙🏼
Tough challenge
In decent condition for a public course but.not a fan. Hard fast course with tiny greens and tons of bunkers. With the wind blowing it ramps up the difficulty to impossible. Any miss of the greens on approach is very punishing. Back nine is much easier than front.
