About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Always Reliable
Course was in good shape considering the recent rain. Greens especially good.
Great course!
Course had a great challenging layout. The greens and green-side areas were in great shape especially for December. There were some areas that had standing water but not anything to do about that. Hole 15 was a bit odd but looks like part if the river bank caved. The practice area provided was fantastic. Even the chipping and putting area matched in quality and feel of the playing area greens. Definitely hope to play again!
Excellent Round
I have played Riverside many times in past years. I was suprised to see the vast improvement in the greens yesterday. They are significantly better than in past years. The weather was arounf 74 - 76 degrees with little or no wind to complain of. I really enjoyed the course.
Not bad for late afternoon
I usually play morning only so I can get in and out. We play fast. The pace could have been better but not bad for the late afternoon.
No notice about canceling reservation
I showed up to the golf course to check in for my tee time. The attendant said they had a tournament and could not accommodate my reservation. If the course is going to advertise their tee times on GOLFNOW, then they should reach out to their customers in a timely manner when they are not able to accommodate a reservation.
Greens get the water.
Pretty obvious that the only areas that get regular water seem to be the greens which were in great shape, some of the best in DFW. However, the fairways are cut too short and hard. Several thin or bare patches in the fairways. The bunkers have too much sand and aren’t maintained. But the price, greens and pace of play help offset.
Pace of play, ammenities
We were playing behind a couple who was hitting two balls off the tee, and that's only because there was a group of 7, and two groups of four ahead of them. Can't have that on a Friday. Weekends need two cart girls, and something more than chips. Wrap some sandwiches. go to Costco and get Cliff bars at least. Very undesirable selections
