About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Course is in great shape! Tee boxes are a little rough but fairways and greens are in the best shape I've ever seen on this course.

The greens were in great shape , hole layout and design were great , the price was incredibly affordable.
I would definitely recommend and will play again

Challenging track, very good conditions, rude outside staff
Would’ve rated a 5 except for the outside staff that included an overly self-important Marshall who hassles and rushes everyone on the first tee and even a cart guy who doesn’t understand who pays the bills (that’s the paying customers in case he sees this review). The guy at the register, the GM, and the cart girls were all super friendly and welcoming. Oh BTW, the fairways and greens are in very good shape. If not for some really muddy and ragged areas around some of the greens, conditions would’ve been 5stars. But when the one thing you remember most about a golf outing is how crappy a Marshall and the cart guy treated you, that’s not a good thing. Not sure I’ll return.
Pretty rough shape
Greens were decent. Fairways decent. Otherwise this course feels early stage renovation without the actual renovation having happened yet. The back 9 especially is pretty bad. For the price it’s fine. It’s golf. If you can’t enjoy it you probably take it too seriously but I would recommend some of the other “value” courses until they get a chance to put some money into this club.
Very friendly staff!
I received a very friendly welcome. The course was okay, although the bunkers could use a bit more grooming, and the course was a bit damp in places. Otherwise, it was a nice game. It was a bit hot, but there were plenty of water stations with ice water.
Great Condition
I have played Riverside a few times and this is the best condition I have seen it in. Worth a stop currently!!
Fun course
Course is challenging but fun. Always in great shape!
7 hour round
Don’t know what happened but we ended up having to tee off 50 minutes late because it was backed up. I’ve never had pace of play ever like that in my entire life. The course was in great shape though! The course is pretty tough and you’ll never see the hole from driving or even your second shot sometimes.
Don’t do it
Terrrrrrible! I show up and they tell me 15 minutes behind schedule. I say ok and go to the range. I show up to 14 carts on the first tee box and them telling me they’re still teeing off tournament players. They are now alternating tournament tee times with public times. Over 45 minutes behind and I decided to leave. The pro shop employee then tells me oh yeah it was an 8am shotgun start…..so how is it 11:04 and you’re still teeing off tournament players? Ridiculous and won’t be back.
Good Times
Me and my buddy played. We got paired up with a couple of really cool guys…. They were about the same us us skill wise (hacks)….. we had a blast the course is quite challenging but not over the top to where you can’t enjoy your round….. we even saw a coyote from about 20 feet away..::: pretty cool….. over all… great course… staff… had a great time and would/will def be back and recommend to friends….
