About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Good pace
Beautiful course good pace! They didn’t stack players one after another!
Great Course for the Money
Course was in great condition. It’s one of my favorites to play when I’m home. It was a holiday weekend so pace of play was about 5 Hours. Ranger did a great job keeping up with the course of play.
Would recommend for anyone looking to play a decent course for the money.

Very good weekend prices and a challenging course, but always worth it.
Pace of Play Problems
Our round was 5.5 hours, spent more time waiting than actually golfing. The group behind us gave up around Hole 12. No apparent marshals to keep up pace of play.
6hr Round
I would not recommend playing Riverside on the weekends because my round would’ve lasted six hours if I didn’t leave in five hours and 15 minutes because I already had prior obligations
Good Course but Needs Time to Dry
The course needs a little time to dry out from the flooding. There is still casual water in some of the fairways, but overall, it’s a nice course.
Terrible pace of play.
Over 7 groups on the first hole. Tee time was 1:30, didn’t get off the first hole until 2PM. Didn’t finish the 2nd hole until 3PM. Over a 6 hour round because they had a tournament run late and still made everyone pay full price. 75$ is not worth no 6 hour round. They need to get multiple Marshall’s out there if they are gonna run the course like that.
Needs a Marshall
This course is awesome. The pace of play was what made the experience very bad. There is no Marshall on the course so it made my experience less enjoyable.
A Few Good Shots A Few Bad Ones
I got out about 25 minutes early, got past a two-some after the second hole, smooth sailing after that. Really enjoy the challenge and character of the course. Fairways were lush and green and the greens were difficult. Staff treated me very well as usual.
Course needs work
It took us 2 hrs 50 min to play 9 and we almost walked off. Thankfully, got around the slow group but they should have been marshalled. Nothing real special about this course but it is a challenging layout especially when it's windy as it's almost entirely north to south or vice versa. Green need work. Can't recommend it in its current condition
