About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Terrible experience
Some sort of tourney so teams stacked shotgun style on holes 7 and 8. We caught them then had wait if 15 mins per hole. Finally skipped them then caught up to 5-some. We just went home without playing 8 holes.
This is becoming common place at Riverside.
Too bad, the staff are nice and the layout is amazing.
SLOW PACE
It took over 3 hrs to play 9 holes. Unbelievable! I ended up leaving after 9..Tee times are every 7 minutes, crazy! Why? Spread your tee times out to 12 minutes..
There were no carts available when I arrived. Had to wait for finishing groups. When we arrived to 1st tee for our tee time, we had to wait for the group ahead of us that were running late. We shouldn't have been penalized for there late arrival..
No marshal on the course to keep things moving along, even if there was one it wouldn't have mattered because of the every 7 minute tee times..Only 1 cart girl, and only saw her once, and she was out of water..
Beware hole #6 a par 5 is cart path only.. Thats where all the issues start..It took 45 minutes to play that hole starting with the wait in the tee box that had 2 groups on it along with my foursome.. Perhaps this hole shouldn't be cart path only?
On a positive note, the golf course was in great shape, greens were very nice.
Not sure if I will return, and if I do it won't be Fri, Sat, or Sun, and I will try to get the first tee time..Manage your course!!
Wish I Could Rate This Less Than a Zero
I wish I could write a review with a lower than 0 rating. The course is in mediocre condition. The Marshall has no control over pace of play and seemingly doesn’t care at all. It has taken us 2 hours to play 5 holes. This course is wildly over price and wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy it’s that bad. HORRIBLE !
Much Better Than Last!
Haven’t been back here in couple of years. Course was goin down hill on condition and staff. Now they have done an awesome job. Complete 180* turn. Clean new carts, friendly staff, and the greens rolled great. Even though they have shrunk tremendously, the green were in great shape and holding nicely. With the desert like temperatures we’ve had I was impressed
Greens were some of the best
Course was in good overall shape. We were a little worried after some negative reviews, but the greens were some of the best we have played in the area. Tee boxes were also good and 90% of the fairways were fine.
Pace of play was not good, we were fourth group off in the morning, second group off were four walkers which took excruciating time on the greens. They ended up 4 holes behind first group off. 4:40 total for round.
Ranger did address the walkers, but it was clear, two of the four walkers could care less.
Surprised
First time to play here but was impressed with the course overall. The greens where in excellent condition and the fairways was the same but the bunkers could use some better sand but i have seen worst. The staff from the front desk to the cart girl could not have been any better. Little bit of a drive for me but it was worth it. I will be back for sure and probably make it my home course. Pace of play could have been better but not the course fault the twosome in front of us was just slow but we still got done in time.
Pick the right cart
Course was in amazing shape!!! Especially for the price! The cart had absolutely no breaks, second one the turning was questionable but if you choose the right cart you should have a great time!
Fun
I had a wonderful time at Riverside golf club. The course is in great shape and the greens are wonderful. I definitely want a second Crack at it now that I've seen how to play it due to its doglegs.
Course in very good condition
Decided to give Riverside a try since we had not been out there in about two years. Golf Now was offering a hot deal and glad we snagged it. Fairways in good shape and greens very good.
Mary in the Pro Shop was extremely friendly. It was a great way to start our day. Booked again for this Saturday.
