About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Plush
Played numerous local courses this season. Today, Riverside has the best tee boxes, fairways, bunkers of any course I’ve played. Only drawback at all we’re the greens. They held fine and rolled pretty good but they had recently been aerated so they were a bit bumpy. Otherwise, loved the course. Will be back ... soon! Nice job!

Five the course another week and will be fine. Greens punched recently, still bumpy!
Good layout
course in good condition except unbeknownst to me when booked the round was not advised that greens had just been aerated.
Decent Layout Bad timing
Course has been recently aerated and greens are covered in sand. Good layout on the course hope to play again when conditions improve.
Greens Alert
always enjoy playing this trac because they have some of the best kept greens which gives u a true roll. Unfortunately did not get the heads up that they had just punched their greens, of course putts were roiling slow, although I may not have booked the t time if had had been alerted of greens.
Greens punched this week
Course in great condition except greens. They were punched this week. Probably be a couple of weeks before they are back to normal
Overall Very Good Value
Overall, Riverside for a somewhat challenging course with a number of interesting hole layouts is generally very affordable and conveniently located. Greens had just been airated so they were a bit bumpy but overall the course is in good shape. They now have a nice outdoor refreshment (food & drink) area at the turn. Nice option. Pace of play is an issue more often then I would like but overall a very good value.
Play and enjoy nature
Layout and natural many water lakes are beautiful this course. Try to play this course. You may like it.
There MUST be more notification when you guys are punching your greens. I played unaware that the greens were being punched, and my golf experience was terrible.
Great Time
As a first time play, I was VERY impressed with the course layout and conditions.Granted, we have had some pretty good rains this season, which explains why the fairways and greens (and tee boxes) were in exceptional condition. If only I could hit the darn fairways off the tee...
Best shape in years!
This course is a great diversion from SIP. Fairways, Tees, and Greens in the best shape I've seen in years for July in North Texas. Bunkers need work but it also rained and filled most of them.
Wow! “Superb” Condition
I’ve played cowboy’s, I’ve played TPC Las Colinas, both in the past month. This course is in better condition than both. I was skeptical when friends told me the same thing, so I went, and they weren’t wrong!
