Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Wow! “Superb” Condition
I’ve played cowboy’s, I’ve played TPC Las Colinas, both in the past month. This course is in better condition than both. I was skeptical when friends told me the same thing, so I went, and they weren’t wrong!
Immaculate shape right now! Hurry before the Texas summer scorches everything.
Great Condition!
We play Riverside in a rotation of 2 months. I have never seen the fairways and greens in such great shape. Best shape for a public course I have played in 3+ years. Great job! Keep it up.
Good Solid Course
This is a good, solid course. It is is good shape, and has enough features and challenges for Golfers of all skill levels. It is also convenient for me so that is a plus too.
The course was not too crowded but I was behind a gruesomely slow twosome . That is not the courses fault but is impacts the round.
I would play there again
Decent course recently aerated greens
This is a decent little course that has a compact shot makers layout. The course was in decent condition although the greens had been recently aerated. There were a few hard pan lies and a handful of rock hard tee boxes but overall nothing too notable.
Somewhat Rain Dampened
The course received quite a bit of rain overnight so the traps were filled with water (just used COVID-19 rules anyway although balls got lost in the watery trap), and there were some parts of the course where there was standing water. Overall though the tees, greens and fairways are in excellent shape and the course lay-out is nice. Unfortunate that the Trinity River continues to encroach on certain holes though on the back nine in particular.
Nice course
I wish they would have told me the greens were recently punched and were still very sandy! The layout is nice and the fairways were in good shape. Riverside water your tee boxes! Had to literally hammer a tee in the ground on most holes!
Love this place
Play here if you can. Head and shoulders above surrounding courses.
Swing for the Fences
We really like Riverside. Never play here on the weekends though, due to the high green fees. Staff was very friendly. With the exception of very slow greens, the course was in excellent shape. We just hate the par 4 number 15th. There is just not place to land the ball for your drive. This is especially true in the summer months. So just hit and hope. If you can, play over the right side of the bunkers on the par 4 number 4 hole. It will seem weird to do so, from the tee, but you will see. For the par 4 number 6 hole, there is a lot more room beyond the 150 yard maker than it appears. Finally, on the par 4 number 18, if you are not a really long ball hitter, just write down a bogey and drive directly to the parking lot.
Must play
Man if you are looking to go out and have a great all around experience then you need to play here. The course is in great shape and the people are friendly. We will for sure be coming back.
Must Play
The staff has this place running great. The course is the great shape and the pace play is on point. I play many courses in the DFW and by far this course is now my favorite.
