Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Nice Value
Good Value for a Monday round. Course is in great shape, Only challenge for them is to figure out how to re-imagine 15 and 16 with the effects of the river erosion.
I keep forgetting this course is tough!
Started play at 10 am with the weather a cloudy, crisp and windy 60+ degrees. The greens were a bit damp but frankly the best we've played in a while. Bunkers in great shape but do watch for quarter-sized rocks. The stretch along the Trinity River is not for the timid. Keep it in the fairway and you should score well. And it was $1 hotdog day!!!
Well maintained in January
Greens were very fast but well maintained in January, had a great time in great golf weather
Best value
Wide open yet challenging course. Great for weekend warriors. Don’t think just play this course.
Slow Pace Ridiculous
Had a 1pm tee time, course was super packed. Could not get a cart until 15 minutes before tee time, very long walk to the driving range without a cart. No on course marshall to keep pace of play. Waited 10 minutes on every tee box. Saw a 6-some, and two 5-somes while playing. We had to quit at hole #14. At that point it had been a 4 hour round.
Course seems to have lowered the price and booked tee times so close together. Alllowing 5 and 6 somes just frustrates off other customers. Value and conditions were good, but not worth it for slowness and not able to finish a full round.
Riverside golf course
Course was in good condition. Greens were very fast, but rolled true. Extremely good value for the money as always.
Slow play, gas powered carts, put a damper on the day
Overall the course was fair but we had our pace slowed by over half an hour waiting on 2 5 -somes ahead of us. The cart paths weren’t in great shape in places, and the greens were inconsistent. The first gas powered cart I was given was a dud and the second needed a tune up badly. It reminded me of the cars in rails at Six Flags. The staff was nice, Maybe it plays better during spring or summer. For the price, I guess it was ok
Don't Look Now
I really like Riverside! The greens are in excellent condition. So are the bunkers...ask me how I know. For a much better approach shot on the par four fourth hole, hit a slight draw over the right side of the far right bunker. A decent drive will leave you a nine iron away. For me, just write down a bogie on the par five sixth hole and do on to number 7. You'll see what I mean when you get there. On the par five eleventh hole, I like to hit my drive right of the fairway crossing bunkers. After that, its a piece of cake. When you get to the par four fifteenth hole, cross your fingers, pray to the gods, and hit almost anything but a driver. Any drive that goes more than 160 yards over the left edge of the prominent bunker will end up in the left side trees/rough/junk. Good luck! The one really frustrating thing wasn't the course. Our twosome followed a threesome from the beginning of the round. They did not let us play through until number 8. I have never seen a marshal on the Riverside course.
Best Value in DFW
For what you pay at Riverside I don't think any other courses compare when it comes to course conditions and practice facilities. Course is always in great shape. Seems to always be windy when I play here and can make the course feel a lot longer than what the yardage is. Staff are all friendly.
Good layout ..pace was fair. Fairways had burnt grass but is expected this time of year...december.
Always enjoy rounding
Good proshop and snack bar staff and fair to play start.
Needs to repairing several carts brake pedal lock and windshield plastics..
