About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Must Play
Course has a great layout but difficult. Great challenge and always count on windy conditions. Driving range is opened!!! They were grilling hotdods, recommend you try one. Played in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Had a father son duo which the dad had a great game, son a beginner. Son would hit a shot and if it went wide left or right, he would drop a ball by his dads. Never held us up and the son had a great time. Wished this happened more often. If you have not played this course, need to put it on your rotation.

Great for both a casual game or if you are looking for a challenge
The course is as tough as you want it to be. If you are just looking to have a few beers and don’t care about the score, you can easily avoid the traps and water if you can hit it straight consistently. If you are looking for a competitive match, the course can be very challenging with hidden bunkers and plenty of water. The water placement is extremely fun as the features are typically placed at extremely awkward distances. For example, a 200 yard drive on hole 18 (par 4) results in you needing to clear the water onto a small island 140 yards out (the green is another 200 yards). It’s tough to have the level of control to hit the fairway on the island, and the level of control needed to make the green in 2 is extremely difficult.
Parking Lot Theft
I would not advise playhing unless you want your vehicle broken into. That happen to me today

Always appreciated staff and management of this course.
Good course maintenances and always my challenging 18th hole is not easy to green regulations with several others holes..especially against winds...
Can't find hole locations due to no flags and protecting Virus pendemics but most of hole was back on the greens this time.
Enjoyed round with wife.

Excellent mangement for Corona Virus pandemics and maintenance also perfect to playing.
One per cart after disinfectant to riding and protects every holes no pin or brocking the ball dropping..
Separate and drove with wife and lot of fun rounds with group of 4 carts...

Lots of acreage
Very well maintained. My hat is off to the maintenance crew. Great practice range with lots of flags. Would help to have some markers. The greenest of all the past 15 courses I've played so far this year. Greens are in great shape. A gem of courses in dfw area.
