Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Slowest Round of golf I’ve ever played.
To start, had to sit there waiting for a cart because they don’t have enough to accommodate for all golfers. After which we played the slowest round of golf ever on a course that is getting eaten alive by the river and I’m not good shape at all. Layout is horrible and tee boxes are right in line with fairways. Whoever designed it needs to never design another. Not sure how it got 4 stars.
Never got thirsty!
Course conditions were very playable even with one hole still holding water (but it was ripped off) and the greens were in great shape. Weather was cool in the AM at tee time but warned quickly and Taya, out cart girl, was readily available and quick too serve us so we didn't keep players waiting. It was great to hear that they staff three beverages cart seven days a week. So many others courses struggle to match this feature. I think we found out spring and summer favorite course.
Love Riverside
I've played here countless times. Course is tough enough for any golfer. The water really makes you control your tee shot, the greens make you control your 2nd shots. 18 is one of the toughest pars 4s around but I still come back with hopes of conquering it
Great for the Money
Winter conditions. Cart paths in awful disrepair. Some tee boxes have no grass. Greens in great shape. No GPS on carts.
Rough kept course
Good value w coupons, easy to get on. Needs course guides as holes are hidden.
Decent course
Pace of play has never been issue with this course so I always enjoy that. Cart girl comes around frequently which is even better. Fairways are in pretty bad shape and the greens are in so so shape. Some challenging holes on the front 9 with blind tee shots but overall not a bad course.
Conditions good for winter
Overall good compared to many public courses I have played over past two months. Greens a little bumpier than normal. Most fairways in good dormant shape.
Been a minute
I did not have a tee time and this was the only course that had an early afternoon time available last minute. Greens were in great shape, held
very well and rolled well. Fairways are in good shape. Now the pace of play was very slow and was not extremely busy. Took 2:30 hours to play front nine. Back nine sped up thankfully was still
4:30 hour round and barely finished before it was took dark to see.
Slow pace
The course was in good shape and challenging. However when I got to the 15th tee it was bottlenecked.
