About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Needs A lot of maintenance
I’ve played this course many times before in previous years. I was highly disappointed on my outing this past weekend. It use to actually be cheaper to play this course and it use to be in better condition. The greens were horrible. The ball would bounce and hop because of the rocks and bad grass on the greens. The tee boxes were rock hard as well. Some of the fairways were ok but once you got to the green. You might as well have picked up your ball because it literally was like playing in dirt. I’m not sure who the manager of this course is now but they need to sink some money into this course and get back up to what it use to be. The guy I ended up playing with said he would never come back as well.
The greens are terrible
Greens are in terrible shape due to foreign grass and weeds - sand bunkers are mostly muddy clay with very little sand and they don’t drain

Hole layout is great - no redundancy - interesting challenges
This course would be great except for two major flaws - the sand bunkers are more clay than sand and usually muddy but the really aggravating part is the greens that are rendered un puttable due to different types of grass or weeds. The course maintenance people say that it’s poana grass mixed in but it makes the greens terrible

TERRIBLE Course
TERRIBLE greens. Pohanna grass on most greens. This place is worse than a goat ranch and that’s sad because I used to play it a lot and it was a good value. Now it’s not worth playing. I paid $72 for a senior and an 8 year old.

Greens were TERRIBLE!
I have played this course several times and I am not expecting tour quality conditions but this time the greens were abysmal. It was more like putting on a Matt of ping pong balls. You could not get a roll on the greens it was a bounce!

There is little upkeep of this course and all greens are diseased. To added insult to injury they have increased their green fee. They also changed their senior discount from 55 to 65 yrs. old. This course is a rip off and I will not be back.

Need Improvement
Greens were horrible. Never seen so many weeds on the greens. Tee boxes were barren. Fairways poor. I would NOT play here again. I only played here because it was cheap.

It’s a pasture
I used to play this course all the time. Played my district tournament on this course in high school. This course is absolute trash. The tee boxes were spotty and unkept. The fairways were the same length as the rough. The greens. The greens were the worst I’ve ever seen on any course. Very dry and sprouts everywhere causing your ball to pop up and move direction. I’ve never been so disappointed. You pay WAY more than what you should. Probably $35 more. I will never play this course again and that’s extremely disappointing.

Where's the Greens?
For a non-expensive round of golf with friends. this is a great place to play!! Practice round if you will, BUT when you get on the green, just pick your ball up, cause I've putted on cow pastures that had better grass, at least there is grass in the pastures!!!!!

No good greens to speak of most need repair and reseeding

Find a better place to spend your green fees
So much wrong so little space.
1. The young lady who checked me in was nice.
2. The course has no greens. There places where they are supposed to be at but the grass is missing on 90% of them. Trying to putt is like playing bumper pool as you bounce off of the grass that is coming in. This is due to the last year's freeze and the course still hasn't recovered.
2. Tee boxes, well there really aren't any. It's more like a mound of uneven dirt with a little bit of grass here and there.
3. The pace of play was slooooooooooow! To many people think they can actually play off the blue tees and can't hit a ball straight. I can't either but at least I play on the correct tee box.
4. No Marshall to regulate play. I was sitting on several holes following this foursome who looked like they were on a Easter egg hunt on every hole. I finally went around them. No hole should take 25 minutes to play.
I didn't finish the round as I taken all I could with waiting at every hole and just fed up with the course conditions..
The fairways are okay, compared to everything else, and should improve when the grass starts growing again.
If you want to play and your score matters this is not the place for you. If you want to use the course as a extended driving range, it will work for that, just ignore the putting.

Only drawback were the greens. Finally coming back from last year’s freeze and now back to bad.
