About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Find a better place to spend your green fees
So much wrong so little space.
1. The young lady who checked me in was nice.
2. The course has no greens. There places where they are supposed to be at but the grass is missing on 90% of them. Trying to putt is like playing bumper pool as you bounce off of the grass that is coming in. This is due to the last year's freeze and the course still hasn't recovered.
2. Tee boxes, well there really aren't any. It's more like a mound of uneven dirt with a little bit of grass here and there.
3. The pace of play was slooooooooooow! To many people think they can actually play off the blue tees and can't hit a ball straight. I can't either but at least I play on the correct tee box.
4. No Marshall to regulate play. I was sitting on several holes following this foursome who looked like they were on a Easter egg hunt on every hole. I finally went around them. No hole should take 25 minutes to play.
I didn't finish the round as I taken all I could with waiting at every hole and just fed up with the course conditions..
The fairways are okay, compared to everything else, and should improve when the grass starts growing again.
If you want to play and your score matters this is not the place for you. If you want to use the course as a extended driving range, it will work for that, just ignore the putting.

Only drawback were the greens. Finally coming back from last year’s freeze and now back to bad.

The management overbooked the players by over 200%. Players were waiting on holes for 50 minutes
Absolutely terrible course management. Go somewhere else for the Monty and drive.

No grass
The course is not just in winter condition...it's in disappearing grass condition. From a distance, it looks like there's grass, but as you get up to it, there's just patches of grass. The greens are horrible. Just make 2 putts a max and be aware that putts are pointless. There's no starter or keeping people on a tee time. You just go up to the first tee and tee off whenever you want. It makes for a big backlog at times because everyone just shows up and goes to the tee box whenever they want. It had been years since I'd been out there, but I won't be making the drive to go back.

Green fees are very reasonable and the course is nice.
The pace is good. Nothing pretentious about this facility, which I really like.Good, down to earth people play here and work here.

Great value for beginners and seniors
Most affordable course on 290! A great place to learn and not too crowded during the week. Senior days are Tuesday and Thursday ($20). As a beginner, this is perfect! And the course is definitely challenging when you are first learning. The staff is very helpful and friendly!

Course returned from February 2021 freeze
Although all tee boxes have grown up completely & the tee markers altered, all needs watering. There are many areas needing to be roped off. Patrons are not respecting the course and are damaging it all the while. The course Marshal can’t be at all needed locations; his next best friends are Stakes & Ropes. Areas needing attention are as follows:
-10 green to 11 tee, rope off
-13 tee, carts are running straight up fairway
-15 tee, driving out to tee
-16 green, patrons driving in next to green side bunker next to green, need ropes from bunker to sidewalk
-16 to 17 tee, patrons again not staying on cart path
-18 tee also, may put down a good base on path next to tees, roots there could start damaging carts front end???
A lot of good improvements since the February 2021 freeze.
