About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Poor Course
Very poor course management. The greens are full of weeds and impossible to read. The entire course is overgrown and in pitiful shape. This used to be a decent course but has gone off the deep end. I would suggest finding another course or just not play at all.

Greens
The greens are spotty at best, with grass sprigs all over. Maybe they will be a little better once the grass grows in. Right now, pretty rough.

Needs A lot of maintenance
I’ve played this course many times before in previous years. I was highly disappointed on my outing this past weekend. It use to actually be cheaper to play this course and it use to be in better condition. The greens were horrible. The ball would bounce and hop because of the rocks and bad grass on the greens. The tee boxes were rock hard as well. Some of the fairways were ok but once you got to the green. You might as well have picked up your ball because it literally was like playing in dirt. I’m not sure who the manager of this course is now but they need to sink some money into this course and get back up to what it use to be. The guy I ended up playing with said he would never come back as well.

The greens are terrible
Greens are in terrible shape due to foreign grass and weeds - sand bunkers are mostly muddy clay with very little sand and they don’t drain

Hole layout is great - no redundancy - interesting challenges
This course would be great except for two major flaws - the sand bunkers are more clay than sand and usually muddy but the really aggravating part is the greens that are rendered un puttable due to different types of grass or weeds. The course maintenance people say that it’s poana grass mixed in but it makes the greens terrible

TERRIBLE Course
TERRIBLE greens. Pohanna grass on most greens. This place is worse than a goat ranch and that’s sad because I used to play it a lot and it was a good value. Now it’s not worth playing. I paid $72 for a senior and an 8 year old.

Greens were TERRIBLE!
I have played this course several times and I am not expecting tour quality conditions but this time the greens were abysmal. It was more like putting on a Matt of ping pong balls. You could not get a roll on the greens it was a bounce!

There is little upkeep of this course and all greens are diseased. To added insult to injury they have increased their green fee. They also changed their senior discount from 55 to 65 yrs. old. This course is a rip off and I will not be back.
