Legendary Oaks Golf Course

About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Greens are in rough shape.
Coarse is awesome and challenging but greens are not in good shape.
Fun semi-serious practice course
Course is nestled in a great rural setting. Not well-maintained but there had also been a lot of recent rain so that affected their ability to mow. Many of the greens are in horrible shape but I didn’t care as I just counted a 2 putt max. I would definitely go back mainly because of the value, the staff, and the rural setting. Enjoyable experience overall.
Greens are bad!
Greens are not good, not sure what happened! Dirt, sand, grass, bumpy not smooth. Easy to 3 putt. I'm confident they will get them back in good shape but it will take some time. Hit in sand trap, take a free drop, most in bad shape.
Great layout
Course is trying to improve the bunkers but something has messed up most of the greens - looks like they sprayed grass killer instead of weed killer!
Gem and in Progress
This course is a real gem and seem like they are in progress to make it get the next level.
Just love the place, the friendly staff and the contact with the nature.
If you're houston native and love the sport, then you will understand how hard is to get a pristine course in summer and all year long, this course is in great shape and playable conditions.
Very recommendable.
Fun for Rec Golf not much more
All grass was in pretty rough shape, and greens were really bad. Still a nice course to course to hit some balls, but if youbare looking to improve this is not the place to go. Should be cheaper for the condition that the course is in
Bad greens
Pretty much playing in cow pasture land. The bunker had fresh sand but not weedeated. Great lay out tho.. pace of play was slow too.
Greens are in bad shape
Hard to putt the greens due to sparse grass and rough spots - bunkers are mostly unplayable because they don’t drain
Just the right place
I went there after while, and I just love this course, full of space and surrounded by nature, staff is pretty friendly and professional, and as a golfer that use to be one digit handicap, that just want to enjoy the day on a course away from the crowds and high priced green fees, this one is just what I needed. Greens are not the best but they offer good flat shape to practice your putter skills, there is options out there way better but also they charge the price for that, but this one was above my expectations.
It’s been better
Used to be one of my favorite courses. Unfortunately the greens are in terrible shape. Quite frankly feels a bit over priced at $50 green fee. I’ve played other rough and tough courses for much cheaper, but at least you could putt. Probably won’t be back for awhile.
It’s a shame
This course has so much potential. Great layout, it’s just not taken care of. Greens horrible. Some traps no sand in them and a broken bridge just sitting there rotting.
Back 9 better than front. A lot of people playing.
I just wish they would put some money into it, then they can charge a little more because course would be worth the drive. Beautiful houses surrounding it. It’s a Shame.
Slow
Last couple of weeks has been extremely slow play!
Beginners Course
Greens are in awful shape, grass on fairway is very long, full of slow players.
