Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Great potential, bad execution.
The Good: This course is on a beautiful piece of property and has a great layout. The set up for the holes isn’t extremely challenging and has some scenic bonuses that come with it. This is a country side course that has long views and open fairways.
The Bad: first the staff isn’t hostile but for a course that is as ran down as this one they can be pretty uptight. We tried to have 5 play during the afternoon and were told we weren’t allowed to play 5 even with the course being empty. The greens are under HEAVY repair, making it difficult to tell the fringe from the green in some places. Also the tee boxes are so hard that they could be made out of concrete. The head of the greens keepers is always rude as all get out. Just cause you work on the golf course doesn’t mean you can approach someone disrespectfully to correct them. I’m sorry we parked our cart on the “fairway” which is a dirt road on the 6th hole and not on “the cart path” which is a strip of broken concrete. Worst part about this course is they raised the prices and to 40 a round during the week and 50 on the weekends. Also there is no walking price, you’re forced to pay for a cart even if you want to walk.
Overall this course has great potential but instead of trying to find ways to get more traffic and more business we will strong hand the customers that do show up. Course design is great, and it’s lame it’s let down by the people running it.
Legendary Oaks
The course was in bad shape, the pro shop and bathrooms were also in poor condition and it appears there is very little maintenance being done on the course and facilities. There were nice homes surrounding the course and I bet those home owners are pretty upset with the condition of the course. I won’t be going back.
Arrived Early
We got on early as a tee time became available and got in a quick round!
Course conditions
Friendly staff.
Fairways ok
Tee boxes fair
Some greens poor
A few have bare spots
A few are good. So i am really only complaining about green conditions they
Get a 3.
I am a 5 handicap and shot 78.
G
Only got to play the first four holes due to being rained out, From what I did see and what we did play the course, ithas improved dramatically still has its flaws. Wish they would update it more.
Nice course to play
It wasn’t the best of course conditions but we did enjoy it. It really has the potential to be a great course to play. Definitely will play here again.
NOT Augusta National ……
….. but a good value. It’s all about expectations.
The Pros - affordable, pretty country setting, fun layout. Friendly people and staff
The Cons - spotty greens but most had nice turf, albeit slower than I was used to. Lots of beginners who should be on a range first, deep deep rough but if you hit fairways you are good.
Poorly maintained
Greens and fairway are not good. Fairway grad isn’t consistent. Greens are mostly sand and long grass. Putting was difficult.
Getting better
I have played this course many times. The fairways are in good shape, but there needs to be more effort on having them cut and maintained. The front 9 greens are still in bad shape. The back 9 was better than average overall. I have watched this course improve over the past 2 years, definitely getting better. Keep making improvements.
Nice course
Nice place to play, a little out of way! In decent shape greens still need work. Only got to play 10 because of rain. Will return.
