About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Playing first time so expectations was high, but disappointed. Fairways were in pathetic condition needs work, I also understand weather has caused some of these conditions. Greens were exceptionally in good condition.

I've played Legendary Oaks serval different times and it's always been fun. The course itself is not to difficult and the people and the attitude make it a enjoyable round of golf, especially if you are a once a month golfer like me. In the times I played there, the summer months are the hardest. It gets hot out there. The fairways can get a little dry and the greens a little hard but a cold adult beverage helps a person play through. The lay out of the course is great for beginners and for the more advance golfer perfecting the small details in their shot. I would encourage everyone to book a around with some good friends and enjoy.

grass
very little grass in fairways. Nice course layout but a bit overly tricky on last 5 holes.

Poor event notice
I made my reservation on GolfNow.com .there was no mention of a tournament being played today. I checked the Legendary Oaks Facebook page and their web site., no mention of a tournament. When I arrived on time for my t-time I learn Thai there was a tournament in process . They told me I could join a group of three or play solos but I would have to follow the tournament players who were playing EXTREMELY SLOW..
Every time I play at Legendary Oaks it is always a hassle. There is no consistency .
Additionally ,apparently the owners or management let’s their children ride around all over the course in golf carts even though they are not playing golf. Very inconsiderate.

Poor Course Mgmt
Tee times oversold, poor course management, fairways are in terrible condition and they do not have enough carts for the Tee time sold. When you do get a cart it dies on the course and you end up walking. Mgmt. will not consider a refund on the cart fee. Will never play this course again and I have been going there for about 4 years now.

Staff is rude, golf carts die
Owner is a coward and wouldn’t even talk to me when I asked for money back. 2 carts died during one round and we didn’t get to finish as a result but nothing from the owner and he told me never to come back. This course is a DUMP and the owner and his staff are absolute cowards and idiots.

Okay
Typical rural course that needs improvement. The fairways and greens were not in great condition and were very thin. The layout is good but has narrow fairways.

Decent course/ had fun playing
The course isn’t top notch but it’s a cool laid back atmosphere. I didn’t have any issues with carts or bad service but a group was late to start and got in right before we did and it slowed the play down quite a bit. Once we got going it worked out fine. Plenty of room to hit your driver and not lose balls. Will play here again. Cant beat the price.

Disappointed
I am a member of this course but not for long. I grew up in Hempstead and I played golf for the first time at this course 30 years ago. I have watched it grow from a nine hole private club to a amazing 18 hole course when Lawrence Marshal bought it and unfortunately to the POS course it is currently. My wife and I had a 11:30 tee time yesterday( 11/20/20) and they were OUT OF CARTS. I was then told by the owner that it was the Members fault there were no more carts. Not giving this fool anymore of my money. He will not pay to maintain the course, it’s never mowed, the carts break down all the time and he will not hire enough people to have someone else bring a functioning cart to you. Great memories are just not enough to keep me going back.
