About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Awful conditions
I have NEVER seen this course in such poor shape. I understand the hard freeze can explain the dead greens that are equivalent to putting on tarmac....but the the fairways are literally dirt with small tufts of grass. I sure hope the “Hiring Course Maintenance Manager” sign in the window doesn’t stay up for long. Definitely won’t be back until conditions improve, even at twenty a round it’s not worth it. On the bright side, pace of play was amazing...I guess most have figured out what I did.
Terrible condition!
My friends and I have played this course several times and we have grown to like it. However, in the recent months the course conditions have really deteriorated. The tee boxes are mostly dirt and uneven, the greens are in awful shape and last but not least, the fairways are atrocious. I realize that this is the dormant season, but that's no excuse because I've played other courses during this time and they were in way better condition. I will not be back anything soon and neither will any of my friends. However they did get all new golf carts, so I'm sure a price hike is on the horizon.

Winter Golf
conditions are as expected this time of year. Good place and good pricing if you don't mind a short drive.

Needs improvement
Although its winter the greens are horrible right now. The carts are in bad shape. The wheels are bald and carts are not cleaned. The owner needs to put more money in the course and less in there pockets. Course is opened 7 days a week which means no maintenance days. SAD

Cool layout fast greens poor fairways
Course layout was interesting and fun but the condition of tee boxes and fairways were awful. Middle of the fairway was like hitting out of fairway bunker in a lot of places. Greens rolled great and fast but were very brown.

Need to grow some grass
I've been playing this course for years and have never seen it in this condition. Most all fairways and tee boxes are dirt. Greens were never winter seeded this year. Winter conditions are one thing but this is just neglect. Might check back in a couple months but probably not.

Going down hill
I’ve played this course for many years for practice rounds. It was inexpensive because it was a long way from town. Now the middle of the fairways is dirt, the greens are dead and bumpy, and the tee boxes are dirt mounds with little to no grass at all. When the fee was $20 you couldn’t complain because that’s what cow pasture courses cost. Now the online fee is $40. There are good courses 15/20 minutes away for $30 with marshals to control pace of play. Sorry to see this course headed in this direction but it happens. None of my foursome will play this course anymore.

Great value course
Generous fairways and tough holes with water and sand. Decent greens for winter play.

Unbelievable-?
Well, were do I begin-We had to wait for nearly an hour to get a cart. I understand that many golfers are getting their own carts due to covid-19, but they should at least have some ready to go. Then the course itself was in the worst condition I've seen it in many years! The tee boxes need to be built up and seeded. The fairways have not been seeded and were very weedy. Only a handful of the greens were actually green with grass, most of them were dried out and in very bad condition, they also needed to be seeded. This course needs some TLC and very fast otherwise I'm sure that many golfers that do play there will go play some where else. I know that I will not be back for a while until these issues are addressed.

Some courses have a little grass on fairways, but this course has less then any.

Bad experience
Pace of play was terrible, customer service was bad at best. You get what you pay for in golf. Stay away from this cheap coarse.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
Played Legendary Oaks for the first time in four years and what a disappointment. The course was a total disaster. No grass anywhere. Tee boxes were dirt, mud, and weeds. Fairways were almost non existent, just dirt. Greens were a mixture of concrete and dirt. This is not winter condition, this was no effort at all to keep the course playable. They seem to be spending their time building a covered driving range and starter shack. Why not spend some time taking care of the course. Do not waste your time.

Great course but overbooked
I've played this course a couple of times. However, the last time I played there, the course was overbooked and tee-time wait was approximately 8-10 mins. There were also not enough carts according to the pro-shop attendant since "many were broken". They young lady at the front desk, Macy, did not seem to care that there were people waiting for carts. Generally a nice course for a beginner but the pro-shop staff need some training in customer service.

Usually pretty good...
I usually enjoy playing this course and like that it is very affordable. However there is a trend that needs to stop. If you book a tee time you should not have to wait for a cart. I waited 15 minutes past my tee time for a cart and someone else waiting an hour before me. This is the second time recently that I have had to wait for someone to finish to get a cart. The course staff are either overbooking tee times, allowing for walk ups when they are full, or allowing for replays. I ended up walking the front nine and grabbed a cart for the back. Of course the cart only lasted 6 holes before it died. Like I said. I like the course and I will be back. Please solve the cart shortage issue.

Legendary Oaks
Fun course. Great layout. A lot worn and could use some TLC...so much potential. Fairways in rough shape. Greens acceptable. No food service except drinks and candy bars. Incredible property. Range ok but a little TLC would make all the difference...like owners don't care. Will definitely play again in the spring.
