Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Nice course
It is better and better golf course and no far away from Cypress where I live. Compare with other courses which I played, this one is the best what I like, of course it is not the best course, but it is the best what I like to play, good price, good course condition, nice course employee, relax, no hustle. If can open the club house, then it will be perfect.
Straightforward Course Design
Over the years this facility has seen many changes, both in management and condition. When considering the weather swings over the last few years, the management has done a good job with the course conditions. The redesign and addition of nine holes done years back (by Jay Reviere in 2000) made the course a frequent play on my list. Greens have been slower than normal lately but should soon be back to normal after the spring rains and now Harvey.
Quiet country course
I have played this course often. It is 35 minutes outside of Houston and I enjoy it every time I play it. It by no means difficult and relatively flat, but it is a nice getaway of a course. The staff is very friendly. After a week of cleaning up debris left from Harvey a couple of friends made trip and enjoyed a peaceful round of golf. Mid and high handicappers will enjoy this course.
Fun Course
Very well thought out course with knowledgeable and very friendly staff
Great course for the price
I've always enjoyed playing here. You can't beat it for the money..
Great value
I play this course regularly it is well maintained and the greens are exceptional. My only complaint would be that man of the ladies tee boxs have trees in front of them. For the price you can not beat this course
Cheap
When I got there she charged me 5.00 for cart fee......
DONT PLAY HERE
The staff here are the WORST! Not an exergeration. There is an old woman at the counter who is extremely rude, and the club manager's philosophy is to say that whatever the old says goes and will not listen to or accept any feedback whatsoever. In addition to this, they will charge you $5 for a cart after you have already paid green fees online that clearly indicate CART INCLUDED. To make matters worse, the pairings are whack with up to 7 people playing in a group, NO KIDDING. You can only imagine what this did to our pace of play, especially since there was a 5 some in front. We skipped 4 holes just to be stuck behind a slow twosome, members who seemed quite comfortable with the slow pace. The course layout is quite nice, but nothing is worth this much hustle. Believe me, you are better off paying full price at a different course, any other course than this one.
Course is in great condition. Challenging holes. Lot of water and ice available at clubhouse.
Nice course
The course was in better shape than reviews suggested. The greens were in good shape. They were slow but the grass was thick. Overall the fairways were in good shape. My only gripe is they charge a single player an additional $5 for the cart.
Nothing fancy here
Take this review with a grain of salt as this is the first course I've played since moving into the area. The greens are horrible, however. Bare in places, seemingly uncut in others. I had some putt bounce while others you can see wobble back and forth on its way to the hole if your line had grass instead of sand. The fairways were OK, though they also have bare/dirt spots as well. The grass around the greens were consistent from what I saw. The tee boxes are uneven and could also use some love.
There is quite a wide distance gap between the blue and white tees also, about 550 yards. May not be a big deal for some but going from nearly 6600 down to a shade under 6000 seems a bit much. I could be in the minority on this fact but be aware of it when you choose your tee. And yes, if you are riding as a single in the cart the experience will cost you $5 more.
While a few holes are near the highway, I didn't notice many homes along the course. Very few should be in much danger of any stray shots unless you really hit them wild.
Great Value
Greens were bumpy, a little slow and had some bare spots but putted true. Grass around greens were in great shape and slow greens made for great chipping conditions. Fairways were decent, did have some bare spots. Will play again later this summer. Can't beat the value and living in northwest Houston the drive is quicker then some courses in Houston.
Love This Place!
I've been playing here for years now and for the most part this course continues to improve as time goes on. Unfortunately this year the greens were ruined while trying to get rid of weeds that had infected them, so they added a LOT of sand to them and for the most part were unplayable. They are slowly growing back in now but it still makes putting very frustrating. The layout of the course gives most holes a little character to make your round a little more difficult than you might want it, but it's still a great course to play! I would love better fairways but it's not a deal killer. I will continue to play here hopefully for many more years!
Avoid This Course If You live Golf!!
If you are a mid to low handicapper and you love and respect the game of golf, avoid this course. First of all, the course is right on the highway, which makes it accessible. But then you get to the course and from the club house, you ar faced with extremely poor qualify. The Staff is very unfriendly (one grumpy old lady) who have no clue about the game and treats you with disrespect.
The greens are not mowed, with aseveral bad batches and (no grass) spots. It is horrible. Then they have the audacity to charge $35 to $40. The one plus is the pace of play is fast, that's because it's not often crowded...well, now we know why.
It's a course with great potential in the hands of poor investors. If I could afford it, I would buy the course, shut it down for 1 year and redo the greens, fairway bunkers and some of the fairways. I would revamp the club house and fire the Staff, bringing in a real golf pro to manage it properly. They I would then reopen the course and increase the rates from $35 to $55 or $60. What a waste of land!
And oh yes, better carry your own drinks...there are no cart girls.
Very bear
The fairways were sparse in some places but ok in others. however all the greens were bear and in bad condition. looks as thought they have not been watering them. Real shame as I have seen the course in much better condition. very disappointed
Very nice for the money...
Just need to work on the greens, they were very tough to putt on, otherwise I enjoyed playing the course
