Jersey Meadow Golf Course
About
Once home to one of the world's largest herds of Jersey dairy cattle, the site is now the Jersey Meadow Golf Course. The course has evolved and changed dramatically over the years, including a major renovation in 2004 that replaced all the greens with Bermuda grass. The layout is routed through groves of mature oaks, providing a secluded feel to most of the holes. The golf course has a classic design that is still a fair test even by modern standards. Water comes into play throughout in the form of ponds, lakes, and winding creeks that weave through the holes. The 14th is a particularly memorable water hole with a creek all along the left side leading to the island green. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and the greens have subtle but tricky contours.

Pairing
Overall the course was pretty good.
The greens were very dry and not very "green".
They were doing some maintenance with the course so groups were backed up a bit. Got paired up with a couple of fast paced golfers, so it was a little frustrating and felt rushed. Wasn't as enjoyable for that reason.
Overall a great course. Different day/time would probably have been fine.
Still needs some work but enjoyable course
Courteous staff and fellow golfers allowed my wife and I to tee off on time and play through some slower 4 somes. Finished in 3.5 hours. Course repairs especially on the greens were noticable on the front and still quite bumpy (If inside 2 feet just give yourself a gimme and pick up. Back nine greens coming in beter and rolled smoother. . Enjoyable day but Are a number of other tracks in the Houston area listed for less that are in better shape.
Room for improvement
The fairways had hard mud patches.
All the greens were similar to a freshly aerated however in worse condition. There were patches of grass missing and they were very bumpy and inconsistent.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and positive reinforcement for my friends who were playing their third game ever.
Cart brakes were not the sharpest. You could put your foot on the brake and the cart would slowly slow down.
Lost the Greens
It appears they lost the greens in the freeze last month. The greens are in the worst shape I've seen them out there. They still rolled fairly smooth, but not like they used to. I would still recommend the course because it is a great layout with challenging shots and thinking required, but the greens are just not in the best shape right now.
Wait until Spring
Jersey Meadows is a decent course however it has seen better days. Management is obviously aware and are working towards improving conditions however at this time, it is in poor conditions. The greens were recently sanded and it appears that they did weeding on the greens. The removal has created depressions which the sanding will eliminate. By Spring the greens should be fantastic. Fairways are lacking grass and many of the fairways & tee-boxes are over run with clover and other weeds. Glad I found a Hot Deal that all in cost $16.75, otherwise I would be furious.
Not the time to play at this golf course
The golf course simply looks like a boxer that went through 12 rounds of boxing and lost. Apparently, this promotes golfers playing not to care for the fairway. The tee box was full of broken tees for the most part. I understand there should be a time to sand the greens, but if you are calling ahead, please advise the players of the course conditions. I would have rather spend my $30 fee on so many other places. With so much competition out there, i remember this being a better golf course.
Windy day at Jersey Medows
I'm a warm and windy day the course was a little chalanging. I enjoyed the game but the greens have recently been airaited and sanded making them very uneven. trying to put was a nightmare. The starter was very friendly and efficient. and slow players we're kind brought to let my wife and I play through finishing the round in just over 3 1/2. hours.
Green are pretty bad
What has happened to all the greens used to be really nice. Fairway full of leaves at this time hard to find ball. Otherwise with the rate on golf now made it reasonable to come back.
Greens were sanded for the winter. The freeze last month caused a lot of dead spots on all the greens.
General review
kind manager. near my house. fair course condition
JV Golf Course
Good Course for the money.
Dangerous
The on-line booking was easy, staff were very friendly.
I rated the course layout as poor due to the fact that the fairways/greens are arranged, in my opinion; in such a way as to make play dangerous.
One example is that when the group I was playing in were making their approach shot to the number 10 green there were ladies playing out of the sand bunker to the left of the green! We had people from other groups, both to the right and left of us; playing in our fairway on several holes. As long as you keep your head on a swivel and wear body armor this is a fun course with great staff.
It's a shame
This course WAS a really nice course at one time. It IS one of the worst courses I've ever payed over $20 to play now. $29 with fees is what I paid for twilight golf. I think morning few times are $50+ thats just crazy nonsense. The place was empty on one of the nicest days of the year. And after seing the the greens I knew why. Weeds everywhere. Clover all through the fairways. St Augustine everywhere. More poa annua on the greens than bermuda. I'm a good putter and making a put over 5' was a crapshoot at this place. Texaco is a $10 course and is in better shape. And the layout is about as good. This course should be a sub $20 course until they get some herbicide on it. I'm wondering how a superintendent can keep his job at a course like this with paying members. I won't be back.
better than some
first time, may be the last only because of drive distance, greens and tee boxes need some work, overall not bad
Green
Course was in decent shape, greens need maintenance. Computers not working in clubhouse so we had to leave and get cash to pay for round. Staff did not offer a discount for our trouble.
