Once home to one of the world's largest herds of Jersey dairy cattle, the site is now the Jersey Meadow Golf Course. The course has evolved and changed dramatically over the years, including a major renovation in 2004 that replaced all the greens with Bermuda grass. The layout is routed through groves of mature oaks, providing a secluded feel to most of the holes. The golf course has a classic design that is still a fair test even by modern standards. Water comes into play throughout in the form of ponds, lakes, and winding creeks that weave through the holes. The 14th is a particularly memorable water hole with a creek all along the left side leading to the island green. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and the greens have subtle but tricky contours.

Service and driving range

This course is an old course but is a challenge for any golfer. A lot of improvements recently, in the Pro Shop, now selling grips with free installation. Fairways and greens are improving. I like the driving range, they now have a warm up basket of balls for only $3.00. They have improved the Pro Shop with a better variety of clubs and apparel. Played in less than 4 hours.

Perfect Weather, Too many crammed up players

This is the first time I visited the JM course and I am a very JR golfer but I do know how to swing a club. For $24, figured I'd give it a try. Would have rather spent that on beer in a pub some where. The staff were VERY friendly so no digs on them at all. The course, different story. Fairways are way too close together. Many times we found ourselves not only waiting for the 3 or 4 groups in front of us but also waiting on people who couldn't keep their ball on their fairways and were playing from ours. We found ourselves waiting on one Tee shot for almost 30 minutes while the other groups in front played their rounds. Greens were horrible in my opinion. At one point I remember being on a green, I think it was hole 8 where the slope from left to right was not less than 30° downhill but likely more. Ball hit to green in one and sat right there, never budged about 10ft uphill from the flag. Tried to putt in, yeah that didn't work either as ball wouldn't roll. Most greens were like this in not rolling worth a darn. All in all, not a good experience and will likely never go back.

Jesseguerrero - sorry but I don't see the relevance in your comment to the condition of the course which is 99.998% of what my reviews is about. Yes I'm a casual golfer, no I'm not great at it, but again - that is completely irrelevant to my review. For your information and not that it's any business of yours - I do practice at least once a week but couldn't get in on my 2 regular courses - Blackhorse and Cypress Lakes this particular day so I chose to try JV. Bottom line IMO is it's a full public gold course not maintained very well. Next to Bear Creek, I consider this just a step above in quality of play.

Playing once a week won't cut it. Golf is a game of patience n requires players to practice.

Easy peasy

Nice easy going round.

Tee boxes being seasoned, Greens firm and smooth. Overall an enjoyable round.

Nice driving range. Practice green for chipping and bunker area as well.

Decent hotdogs, the GC has some grey hairs but other than that I'd go back.

Not a long course, but has challenges for all handicaps.

Friendly staff! Good value.

Overpriced considering the course conditions

Currently they are leveling the tee boxes and have moved the tee markers up about 50 yards of the standard tee boxes. Charging near full-price for a course that is in this type of condition is unsavory and poor customer service.

Good Layout

The marshals could have allowed our group to go thru when a par 5 hole was open in front of the group ahead of us.

Pairing

Overall the course was pretty good.

The greens were very dry and not very "green".

They were doing some maintenance with the course so groups were backed up a bit. Got paired up with a couple of fast paced golfers, so it was a little frustrating and felt rushed. Wasn't as enjoyable for that reason.

Overall a great course. Different day/time would probably have been fine.

Still needs some work but enjoyable course

Courteous staff and fellow golfers allowed my wife and I to tee off on time and play through some slower 4 somes. Finished in 3.5 hours. Course repairs especially on the greens were noticable on the front and still quite bumpy (If inside 2 feet just give yourself a gimme and pick up. Back nine greens coming in beter and rolled smoother. . Enjoyable day but Are a number of other tracks in the Houston area listed for less that are in better shape.

Room for improvement

The fairways had hard mud patches.

All the greens were similar to a freshly aerated however in worse condition. There were patches of grass missing and they were very bumpy and inconsistent.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and positive reinforcement for my friends who were playing their third game ever.

Cart brakes were not the sharpest. You could put your foot on the brake and the cart would slowly slow down.

Lost the Greens

It appears they lost the greens in the freeze last month. The greens are in the worst shape I've seen them out there. They still rolled fairly smooth, but not like they used to. I would still recommend the course because it is a great layout with challenging shots and thinking required, but the greens are just not in the best shape right now.

Wait until Spring

Jersey Meadows is a decent course however it has seen better days. Management is obviously aware and are working towards improving conditions however at this time, it is in poor conditions. The greens were recently sanded and it appears that they did weeding on the greens. The removal has created depressions which the sanding will eliminate. By Spring the greens should be fantastic. Fairways are lacking grass and many of the fairways & tee-boxes are over run with clover and other weeds. Glad I found a Hot Deal that all in cost $16.75, otherwise I would be furious.

Not the time to play at this golf course

The golf course simply looks like a boxer that went through 12 rounds of boxing and lost. Apparently, this promotes golfers playing not to care for the fairway. The tee box was full of broken tees for the most part. I understand there should be a time to sand the greens, but if you are calling ahead, please advise the players of the course conditions. I would have rather spend my $30 fee on so many other places. With so much competition out there, i remember this being a better golf course.

Windy day at Jersey Medows

I'm a warm and windy day the course was a little chalanging. I enjoyed the game but the greens have recently been airaited and sanded making them very uneven. trying to put was a nightmare. The starter was very friendly and efficient. and slow players we're kind brought to let my wife and I play through finishing the round in just over 3 1/2. hours.

Green are pretty bad

What has happened to all the greens used to be really nice. Fairway full of leaves at this time hard to find ball. Otherwise with the rate on golf now made it reasonable to come back.

Greens were sanded for the winter. The freeze last month caused a lot of dead spots on all the greens.
